I've upgraded to Cubase 13 from version 12, and Jamstix 4 has stopped functioning correctly: the GUI frame remains black (I'm not sure how else to explain it), and Cubase becomes unresponsive to the point where it's necessary to force quit the application. Any suggestions?

Oh, no. I haven’t upgraded yet, but it would be very bad news if this is a general issue. For now you could try with support in the main page.

The official support has solved my problem. I post it here, in case someone else may need it:

"Please open the Jamstix manager tool, click ‘Troubleshooting’ and check the box 'Use APS Mode'."

oh, that is great to know, thank you very much for post it here. I plan to upgrade, just must solve so a ton of things before that I don't want to begin another one yet.

I don't have the minimal of the minimals ideas. I only know that this section of the software can be touched only if support tells you to do. A kind of don't touch here, or something explodes!

According to Ralph APS mode runs the plugin in a separate thread from the audio thread, if I'm remembering correctly from back in the beta testing phase. I do remember Ralph said not using APS mode was preferable but on my Windows 7 studio rig I had to run it in APS mode and never noticed any major issues regarding performance. There was a minor thing using Reaper with keystrokes being passed to the plugin, but they were tolerable.

Thank you, Azimuth. What is that about keystrokes being passed to the plugin? I don't figure it out.

Hi Knopf,

I don't remember exactly anymore, it has been a long time but they were just minor annoyances, not affecting my workflow from what I remember. One I do remember was if the 3d kit was fullscreen, the esc key would close the plugin gui instead of re-windowing it. I remember it all just being minor stuff like that.

Hi!

I have the same issue (as described in separet topic) but changing to APS Mode didn't help. Instead of black UI I get OK UI but CB13 still freezes when starting playback.

Any other ideas to look for?

Are you on a laptop or are you using a desktop?
What type of graphics do you have?
Is it a discrete graphics card, e.g. Nvidia or AMD?

Sorry for late reply.

System Specs:
Processor 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K
Motherboard ASUS ProArt Z690- CREATOR WIFI
RAM 64 GB
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
OS Disk Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB (1,0 TB)

I haven't had any issues with Jamstix 3 or 4 before but now suddenly, on and off, I get audio issues with JS3 during playback/export (just noise) and also the issues above regarding JS4.

Can not see any patterns, some projects work and some not, but I am trying to figure it out.
