Hey guys
I am trying to figure out what Brain element (Drummer or Style) that I need to add to the Accent page to get cool cymbal work like the HH starting around 36s in this tune.

Later on he does some HH stuff where he does some slight opening and closing that also sounds cool. Any suggestions there?

I added the Hands Rudiment from Carmine to see if it will do what I want but I cannot get JS to generate any Rudiments.
I did click Active so that it is now Blue or Enabled.
Any ideas? |

Please do a 'Save Song' in JS and send me the file so I can check this out.

well shoot.
i was just putting the email together but before i did, i loaded up the previous version (7) of the song and now it is working. odd.
after i started this thread, i cleared the song and created a new one with Carmine. I created a cool Rudiment and saved that Bar. I then loaded up the song that was not working, loaded my saved Bar and saved a new version ( .
i just emailed version 8 which is not working for me. it looks like it was saved with the Hands Rudiment not Active but when I do make it Active (Blue) I see the same behavior I saw in version 7.
Ralph is there any way to increase the volume or power of several hit pieces at once relative to one another?
For example, that Rudiment I created and loaded sounded cool but the volume was too low. I selected the Snare and HH hits but when I increased the power it sounded like all hits went to the same level and all the cool nuances were gone.
BTW, I know that when the Rudiments are working I can use the Power knob to do this.

Brian, looks to me like you've locked the bars. The brain will not compose into a locked bar. Please unlock the bars before toggling brain elements or adding new ones etc.

Hi Ralph
do i have to unlock All Bars in the part?
i tend to not do it this way but rather unlock the current bar (click the Red lock on the bottom left part of the screen) so I only effect the bar I am working on at the time.
i have been doing it this way forever and also with this song.
the file i sent most likely had all of the Bars locked but i assure you that i have unselected the lock so it is no longer Red and i do not get Rudiments.
i will see what i can do to get a short video of what i am doing and send that to you.

hey ralph
i just sent an email with a video link in it. i did a Windows 10 capture that is over 25 (~32M) so gmail will not add teh video as an attachment but uploads it to my Google Drive. the email should have a link that allows r.zeuner@rayzoon.com editing access.
let me know if you have any trouble getting the video man.

Brian, the problem in the video is that you are only unlocking bar 15, which is a repetition bar of bar 11 so when it recomposes, it copies the data from bar 11, which is still locked. Either unlock the core bar (#11) and edit there or unlock the whole part.

interesting. good to know.
so in this song i do not want bar 15 to be like bar 11.
so i guess the best thing to do is to copy Verse 1 which is 4 Bars x 4 Reps and then make each part 4 Bars x 2 Reps?

In your defense, it does get tricky with the core/rep bar concept and the locking.
