First, before I ask this: I have both respect & faith -- I've been on board since Jamstix 1, and have bought the latest stuff even though I've not been able to use it much on my Mac. (Zero Jamstix recordings since switching... ouch.)
But... what approaches will you consider to get a Mac version out in a predictable (or even good!) timeframe? Here are some thoughts:
1) Keep battling, the problems will yield, and perhaps the folks at Apple Developer Support like really tough questions.
2) Split the MIDI generation from the Audio. Jamstix kits are good, but it's not as if Mac users don't have at least GarageBand kits. I often use Superior Drummer, so I'd be happy with this.
3) VST first, AU later. Although I've coded neither, I've observed that VST coders have troubles with AU.
4) Some hosts first, others later. Everyone has GarageBand, but stuff such as Studio One, Logic, Live, and Cubase (to name a few) are out there, too.
5) Contractors. Perhaps worth the increased cost for experience and expertise.
6) Cut features that are traumatically difficult, at least for the first alpha or beta.
7) Something magical that I've not thought of. You tend to be good at that, witness Jamstix itself!
I really miss jamming with Jamstix (although I don't miss Windows), so I hope that there's some approach you can take that will resurrect my favorite electronic companion for my Mac... If any of the above sound good -- why not float the idea and see what folks would like for a pre-alpha or whatever? Especially if it's #7 |

Please give an update on the status of Jamstix for OS X.
Will it be released in 2011 as you stated? |

Thanks for the update.
Do you expect substantial a delay? |

| I know you won't give an answer to the delivery date thing, too many developers have been stung by that one, but have you considered the points by heyjohn above? Especially with #7. Do they seem helpful at all? |

We are considering everything. This is just something we have to fight our way through. At the same time we need to provide updates for PC, complete native 64-bit and put out expansions since there are many happy PC JS users out there.
A simplified Jamstix has been on the table for a long time and is prime candidate for an initial OSX release. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I would be EXTREMELY interested in this.
Ralph, is there any chance of having a special (also more affordable ) version of Jamstix that only processes MIDI and just links to the drum sampler of your choice, that you have already? I don't need a fourth drum sampler, next to EZD, AD, and BFD Eco - just the "brain" would suffice! |

It's being considered but may not be economical. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Hm - in that case how about an option in installer not to install the kits? |

| I'd be interested in this too, that's the main reason I bought Jamstix, for the brain, I already have tons of drum sounds...... |
