I'm sure there's a dirt-easy solution for this that I haven't found, but anyway:

As the title implies, I'm trying to set up a part in 6/8 time with the hats playing four times a bar - that is, in sixteenths:

ONE two three FOUR five six SEVEN eight nine TEN eleven twelve.

None of the hat settings have worked, and a lot of them don't seem to like 6/8 time to begin with - I might get hits on One, Three, Seven, and Nine, and nothing in between.

What's the simplest way to get this hat rhythm into the Brain, short of hand-programming it?

Cheers.

What I would do is this:

- hand-program the four hihats into an empty bar
- save the bar
- open the style you would like to use and disable its hihat element (left-click on element name in the brain)
- use 'Add-Groove Importer' in the brain menu and then load your saved bar into the importer element.

Fair enough.

Will other brain controls like the hat openness and power varying still work with this, or am I stuck with the hits as I program them? (At work right now, so I can't check)

Yes, that will still work.
