| Not sure (Ralph?) but I think the "in the general public" part relates to our discussions. This is a thread specifically about the beta so obviously there shouldn't be any confusion. |

Well, Obviously there is...
Lets see, we have a discussion on a topic about something that is specifcally talked about beforehand on telling us NOT to be discussing the beta between ourselves, and so these pages of doing just that somehow makes this "obviously" confusion free?
err... got it ; )
So if thats the case Im having issues with loading BFd 2 kits.... |

Me too. But I'm still not sure if that's down to Jamstix or Live 8.1..as it not a consistent thing. |

Let's clear up the beta discussion confusion. Of course you are free to discuss the beta here in our forum. What we were referring to are statements posted on other forums like "I tested the Jamstix 3 beta and it sucked" or "There is no groove builder in Jamstix 3".
Ocean Drums: we haven't had many requests for a map (if any). Of course if one of you wants to do the work, we'll gladly include the maps.
R Green: we are considering additional part types. In fact, if any of you have more ideas, let them flow. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Ralph. When can we see more information regarding this feature? Is it just paradiddles or are there other articulations defined to use. If so, how many will there be? |

I won't have final info on the RudimentGen until it is in beta. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'm going to have some Ocean Way kits but not until the end of the month. I'll see what I can do then (after I learn how to do it ).

| I never really understood what it did. What has the new engine done to remove the need for it? Just curious. |

Do you mean the velocity scaling? It's just a feature that was hardly used and added unnecessary complexity to the JS2 engine. If alternate scaling is needed at all, it can be achieved through Max/Min Vol. in the kit editor as well as velocity mapping. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

While on the subject of velocity, will Jamstix 3 have more velocity layers per kit piece than JS2 ?
Its just that i've been using the brush sounds quite a bit lately ( in JS2 ) and find the hats & snare don't seem to have a lot of velocity layers and on the snare in particular seems to jump in level quite a bit between layers.
Or is there something i'm missing in the setup/options that would fix this ? |

The JS3 sounds have anywhere from 4 to 9 velocity layers with up to 6 alternate samples per layer. This has proven to be a good compromise between realism and kit size. The BonzoPak architecture is a good example of what the JS3 kit is aimed at.
The brush kit from the XL Pak is not up to the same standards as BonzoPak or JS3 stock kit. We will have a new brush kit either in JS3 or in a new JazzPak later on.
The volume differences in layers are natural. That's why drums are almost always going through a compressor. JS2/3 gives you an alternative with the velocity mapping in the kit editor. If you use the 'Expanded' mode, you will get higher levels on the lower layers. You can also experiment with raising the 'Min' knob below the mapping instead. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
