GregHolmes, Zauni,
The problem with Chainer, MiniHost, Plogue Bidule, etc. is they record the COMBINED output from Jamstix and whatever is driving Jamstix, ie, a softsynth or whatever, and there is no way to separate the drums onto their own track. That's why it would be good to have a 'record to wave' function in Jamstix itself that would save just the drum portion as a .wav file. Again this is critical for people like me who do their mixing and mastering in Adobe Audition or other sequencer/multitrackers that don't accept VSTi's. I hope I'm being clear here. Thank you for your input. |

Well...
Plogue Bidule lets you put "Audio File Recorder" devices anywhere in the patchbay. I just made a setup with a MIDI file player feeding MIDI into Jamstix (in Free Jam) and also into a simple poly synth.
Then I added three File Recorders, right where they were needed:
- one for the total mix (stereo, drums plus synth)
- one for just Jamstix channel 1 (stereo, no ambience)
- one for just Jamstix channel 4 (stereo, ambience only)
I linked the three File Recorders so they all started and stopped recording at the same time, then started the MIDI player.
Voila! Three WAV files!
6% to 10% CPU utilization on the laptop while playing/recording.
Nevertheless, your point about adding WAV export into Jamstix is valid, but I just thought that Ralph didn't really need another thing on his list right now... |

Good point again!
Seriously, this is a neat work-around until we get 'Export Wave' going in Jamstix. Thanks a bunch, Greg! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yeah, we can't have Ralph eliminating the need for a drummer and Plogue Bidule... _________________ Rock softly and carry a big stick. Wait, what am I saying? Don't Rock softly. - Rock Churchill |

good work on Bidule method... an other way to go would be inside Chainer, along with TapeIT from Silverspike [you'd need to buy it to get the full version]... then you could have JS on Chainer channel 1 with one instance of TapeIT under it... and have the same on other Chainer channels for other vsti's. I think you could arrive at some compex mixes of a live session in chainer by also having something like this:
in channel 1, at top, load one vsti instrument and under it put a send, set the send to channel 8 at 100% and put a Tapeit on channel 8
back on channel one, under the Send to 8 insert an Input. below that load JS with another Send to 9 under it... put another TapeIt on 9
so on an so forth... |

| Whoa, thanks max!! I'll try this, seeing as how I already use Chainer and am relatively familiar with it. |

Zauni... I am now wondering if it might be handy to put a MIDI LEARN rt clk function on the Velocity Lock? You know, so taping a key or the assigned midi controler would toggle it on and off...
I can see how this would nice to have and avoid using the mouse to do it.. |
