Last night I was watching ROCKSTAR Supernova on TV... that band... 'The Houseband'..... Really are the 'business'... they are just so good.
I noticed that the drummer was twirling his sticks (both left and right) between hits... he seemed to be using this as a timing thing to help lay back the groove... he was twirling them and throwing them and catching them again between vital hits on the snare, toms or crash...
Ralph will Jamstix 2 have a function to 'twirl' the sticks?

| I think this is an essential feature, no drum instrument can claim any degree of realism unless there is stick twirling. |

We have a prototype of Jamstix that uses stick twirling but it's not ready for release because it sometimes loses the stick which can hit the CPU fan or knock a RAM module out of a slot. Rest assured we're working it...
Seriously though: the twirling is purely show and has nothing to do with timing. Watch the 'Thomas Lang' DVD on detailed demonstration of this. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It sure does show a lot of control over the drumset... when a drummer can do such tricks with the sticks.... it's hard enough to play drums on time... then to play with feel (harder again!)...... and THEN to be able to do that kinda stuff as well as playing on time and with feel..... it's very impressive!

Now I'm scared, if JS can twirl the sticks, what's next? Is JS going to run away with mygirlfriend and make a video that everyone can download off ther internet? My heart can't take that again! _________________ T-bonesplace.com |

ever seen Keith Moon play?? = WOW!
check out the rolling stone's rock and roll circus = the who play a blinder and moon does very little else except twirl sticks, lean backwards, dismantle his kit and hit every tom and cymbal he has every couple of seconds! should incorporate his facial expressions into jamstic too
id love to get jamstix to sound like bonzo and moon (and mitch mitchell....and ian paice....and john densmore....and ginger baker.....oh and lars ulrich!!)
i can get pretty close with bonzo (simple and heavy) and moon seems to be about massive amounts of toms and cymbals, densmore is jazzy and soft with lots of odd fills.
but = im not a drummer so waddoino?
moon's kit seems really bizarre - doesnt look like your "standard" kit _________________ Sepiroth |

You are right dude! Mitch Mitchell, Keith Moon and I'd have to add Ringo Starr.. great feel....great styles....
If JS2 is going to have 'personalitys' ... cvan we please have a very laid back hippie cat? for slow 70's Neil Young and CSNY type folk rock?
Dallas Talyor (CSNY) had great timing and feel.

Oh no!
So you're going to make JamStix completely silent? (Drummer doesn't show up for gig).
Or, the drums stop half-way through a song? (Drummer falls off stool after 8 drinks).
Or, the drums morph into a completely different style? (Drummer is replaced by audience member after taking too many tranquilizers). |

Yeah... me (as a guitarist) mostly used to have to put up with drummers forgetting to make the change (or playing the wrong part) even after they've taken 20 minutes to write the arrangement all down... and then ask "Oh, is there a change there or something?"
But the worst thing is they take 1 and a half hours to set up the kit and have to stop and hour early to 'break down' the kit and load their car again!!!
I'd rather wait the 5 minutes that it takes to boot the computer...start up Cubase and open Jamstix....
