Sounds like a good idea.
What about that function of drummers styles? Where you could get a signature Ringo or Bonzo feel?
Have you done any more with that idea yet?

If anyone else is like me, I think pre-made patterns and variations are going to be even more important for ePak. Most of us probably have the basics of how a drum kit is played - but electronic music is a different animal.
ePak will "add "e-mode' to the Jamstix interface, which essentially switches off limb control to allow more sounds than are humanly playable and also modifies the free jam engine to allow for some e-groove specifics." Will it also give us an abundance of grooves/variations to work with, and/or help us create e-grooves, or just "allow" for it?

oh my god yes.
this is about 90% of what i do with jamstix - pick a good groove, write around it, then mix it up for the changes. the automation of some of this would free up a lot of time for really trying new stuff. given the incredible realism of the sounds (which are alone worth every penny for the price of JS), i would love more work to be spent in this hands on composition direction as opposed to the jam brain - even a great human drummer can't jam with unpredictable music. |

ePak will come with a set of new library rhythms. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph
Just wanted to weigh in and say that this is a feature that I too would use all the time.
I'm forever pasting copies of my main beat so that I can add subtle and not so subtle variations through my songs.
So this would be a great head start!
Cheers

Ralph
I didn't get what you meant by 'rythym sets' the other day when I read this post.... so I wasn't too excited...
But re-reading the post now.... MAN! Yeah this seems like a totally awesome idea!
It's shaping up to be a really amazing year for Jamstix!

How could anyone vote no - cool idea and if you don't want to use it, you don't have to.
I like the idea of even more variations also. |

Great idea IMO.
Makes me think some of this knowledge about drum parts and song structure could be put together into a tutorial page here. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who could learn a few things. |

A probably underused feature of Jamstix is 'Reduction', which is coupled to velocity be default.
I recommend unchecking it in the jam tab and then using an automation envelope on the 'Reduction' parameter in the host. This allows you to shape one rhythm 5 ways:
- normal
- half time
- no snare
- limited kick/no snare
- no kick/snare _________________ Ralph Zeuner
