How do yu get the chimes to play in just one bar and not repeat every fill length?
Thanks,
Thomas |

You'll have to play them manually in the MIDI track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It would appear to me with the way percussion is set up, that it was originally designed with jamming in mind, and not arranging. Ralph has certainly listened to many suggestions by the many of us who use it for arranging, and is constantly making features more arranger friendly and accessible.
It is very common for tamborine (for example) to be added in a section of a song and not others - In fact it may be very inappropriate in others.
etc. etc. etc..... Not only that, but accessing percussion through the Jam tab is a pain - stopping the play so you can't even hear the changes you make. If you have to go back and forth a few times to get it right - it all adds up to a lot of steps.
Is it possible that in a future update, percussion can be accessed through the rhythm tab - used only where it is wanted - changed throughout the song? I realize that "Jamcussion" is in the plan for the future, and congas, etc. will be most welcome. In the mean time, the percussion we have could be much more usable.
Is it actually more usable than I realize? If I'm missing something here - feedback is welcome.

Is this not something that can be done with some of the automation parameters? I haven't done it specifically with chimes but I have done it with shakers.
With shakers I set up an automation track. Draw the line to 1 when I want shakers and bring it back down to 0 when I don't. _________________ darcyb62 |

I don't think you can do this with chimes, because the automatable parameter controls the frequency per fill (as far as I know), whereas the param for shaker controls the velocity, so you can put it in any bar.

I won't argue with that. I don't have it in front of me so I can't look but I'll take your word on it. _________________ darcyb62 |

Percussion in Jamstix is just a freebie add-on. We'll have a more advanced percussion module in the future. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

The percussion module will have congas, bongos, djembes, darbukas, timbales, maracas, claves, shekere, guiros, rainstick, wood block, finger cymbals and triangles.
At this point it has not been decided if this will be a full stand-alone plugin or an add-on for Jamstix 2 but we're leaning toward the latter. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sounds fantastic - bring it on!
I know I'm probably in a minority, but I'm actually more interested in this than JamBass (but then bass was my first instrument, so I still prefer to play it myself. On the other hand, give me a tamborine and I'll show you just how uncoordinated a man can be ) |

| me too, i'm reeeeeally looking forward to the percussion addon/plugin/vsti/whatever... i'm pretty sure i'll be using it often. (also looking forward to it more than jambass, partly because i already play bass, but i think you and i might be in a minority!) |
