Hi all, I am making a rocky thingy and would like input on the best way to accomplish the following.
In the first bar into my chorus I want to use basically the same rythm as the verse, but I want a cymbol/crash ride (NOT a hi-hat ride) over each kick.
Jamstix seems to have very good support for hi-hat rides, but to create a crash ride needs a bit of extra work. I've created and arrangement with basically two rythms both identical, except that the second has the cymbol box checked for every beat. When I want the crash ride, I have that be the rythm that is played for that bar.
Is that the best way?
It seems to me that this would really be just another kind of fill that I could select instead of having a whole rythm for it. Or am I just thinking in a non-jamstix kind of way?
Thanks |

Interesting question! In other words, you'd like Jamstix to play a ride rhythm on a crash cymbal, not a ride cymbal. Right?
If so, the best way is this:
- go to the mapping tab
- select 'Ride' in the sound list
- select a 'Crash...' cymbal in the sample list
- repeat above steps for 'Ride Bell'
That should do it nicely without the need for any additional rhythms. You can then use 'PowerPlay' automation to switch from hats to crash/ride whenever needed. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

That is working VERY nicely. The rides are exaclty what I was after. I got the powerplay automation working with an envelop in SONAR, but is there a way to get it to work with a standard midi controller (i.e a button on my keyboard or a footpedal)?
Thanks much. This is rockin. |

Personally i think the best way to implement any kind of trigger for power play (and shuffle mode, etc ) would be through midi note data, like is currently used for "jam reset" and "jam start/stop". I really like the idea of being able to bash on my keyboard to "play" jamstix (while still feeding the audio signal from my guitar for velocity data), even if i would have to deface my keyboard with stickers so i can remember what's what...
Just my two cents worth |

CC-assignments for various sliders are planned for Jamstix 2.
