not sure if this is a bug -

If I start the host (SX3) and have Jamstix playing a rhythm I loaded in the rhythm tab I can use the spacebar to start and stop the song position pointer (as it should). While the song is playing, if I move to arrangement tab I can no longer use the space bar to stop and start SX3 while focused on jamstix. If i move the focus back to the arrangement screen I can stop and start via the spacebar.

I have tried this several times and it is reproducable on my system (using BFD as well).

Thought I would throw it out there.

This was reported before and we can't reproduce it here with SX 2.2. It's annoying but we don't have a fix, yet.

not sure if this sheds more light (i must have missed the previous thread about this)

When the stop and start are working (beforing clicking on arrangement tab) the cursor (arrow) doesn't do anything when pressing the spacebar.

Once moving to the arrangement tab, the cursor disappears while pressing the spacebar. Subsequently it continues to disappear when the spacebar is then pressed after moving to the rhythm tab.

If the space bar is held down for 10 seconds, my cursor will be gone for 10 seconds.

I had (have) the same issue with Cubase 2.2 and started the earlier thread, so it is not just in Cubase 3. And I understand it is tough to fix if you can't reproduce it. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the "Release ASIO driver in background" setting.

bernffri .. what kind of soundcard do you have? I have an RME 9652, XP SP2, BFD, MIDEX 8.

Wondering if anything in common.

awesome - that was fast! You will soon draw the wrath of other developers who can't or won't respond the way you do.

Sadly Cubase has almost become a joke in terms of support. The moderators on their forum treat their customers with almost disdain. Granted they are a whiny bunch over there, but the lack of communication is what drives it all.

anyway, out of curiousity what was it?

We've had issues with the focus on combo boxes (like sound key, sample etc.) when switching tabs where you'd return and the combobox would close itself right after opening. We fixed that problem by setting the focus to a dummy combo box hidden from view after each tab change. Apparently that causes the Cubase spacebar problem. What we did in the fix is to set the focus back to the tab control after setting it to the combo box and it fixed the issue.

That's great you fixed it! It was getting to be really annoying whenever I hit the space bar or number keys and get no response sometimes.
