I'm working on a song and I have the outputs from Jamstix into Cubase set the following way:-

Toms/hats - 1
Kick - 2
Snare - 3
Cymbals 4

I want to EQ the hats individually(away from the toms) but I'm not sure how to get more than 4 outputs. I can route the hats to a 5th(and more) output but the track in the Cubase mixer doesn't show up. At first I thought it was in the mapping tab, next to sounds where it say's 'outputs' and the default is 4. That didn't change anything though. I just want to have one more output. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

OK, I'm still struggling with this. I read that you have to set the number of outputs to 5(or however many you need) in the mapping tab but you have to also unload Jamstix as a VSTi from the rack then reload it. If I do this though I will lose all my settings/mappings won't I? Is there a way I can save it so I can simply load it back in, in the exact state it was before?

There's one big problem though, when I re-open Jamstix and load the fx bank the Cubase mixer doesn't keep the volumes/EQ's/effect plugins etc I had for each output Is there any way of storing them? I really don't wanna have to remix the drums. It's my own fault though, I should have set more outputs to begin with, I really didn't know I'd need more than 4. The only thing I want to do is cut the treble a little from the hats.

It's generally a pain to change outputs as most hosts aren't designed to deal with this. They kind of expect each plugin to have the same # of outs at any time. In some hosts, such as Sonar, you can manually add or remove output returns, which makes things a lot easier.

All I can think of in your case is to write down the volume, EQ and effect choices (save effect settings individually) and then reload/re-set them manually.

Thanks Ralph - I'll probably just keep things the way they are, the EQ on the cymbals thing is only a minor thing anyway. I'll definetely know for next time though Thanks again.

Another alternative I thought of is this:

Leave the outputs as they are now. Add a second instance of Jamstix and load the FXB into it. Now mute the hihat in the first instance and solo it in the second. If you are short of RAM, you should unload all samples except the hihat samples in the 2nd instance.

Yeah, that would work - thanks for the idea Ralph but I decided to EQ the toms and hats together and it has worked out pretty good.
