Hi,
I'm new to jamstix and totally clueless, can someone give me a hint on how to deal with the following.

I have installed both jamstix and data in a directory called C:\programmes\mtstudio\vstplugins\jamstix. When I load jamstix into multi track studio, it loads a whole load of stuff, then stops and I get a message titled "Locate plugin DLL" with the following content:

"C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins\BFD Stereo"

I thought it was looking for a .dll because the title of the message reads "Locate plugin DLL" but apparently it's not. As I installed jamstix in the MtStudio\Vstplugins folder it shouldn't be looking there anyway. I have no idea what "BFD Stereo" means, and the "file type" box, which normally appears below the "file name" box is empty so I can't assign a file anyway.
This doesn't seem to be very important´because if I cancel it, jamstix seems to load anyway. If it doesn't have any impact on the programme I would at least like to get rid of it.
I'd be grateful for any ideas thanks in advance.

The message appears when you try to load a BFD mapping and Jamstix wants you to tell it where BFD is installed on your system. BFD is a drum sound library from fxpansion.

What is odd is that this should only happen if you are either manually loading a BFD mapping or have set a BFD mapping as your default.

Please do this: defelte the file 'default.rdm' in your 'jamstix\mappings' folder. Now make a copy of 'intdefault.rdm' in the same folder and call it 'default.rdm'. See if this makes the message go away.

I have no idea why this could possibly happen but Jamstix seems to load a specific BFD mapping. This is weird because it implies that the "default" mapping tha Jamstix normally loads at startup was renamed or altered by a BFD mapping (like you would normallly do when you explicitly WANT that Jamstix fires up BFD at star-up).

Wait a bit until Ralph chimes in.
If all fails I would simply reinstall Jamstix from scratch.

Thanks for the tip Ralph, unfortunately it had no effect. I noticed that at the end of the rzdlog it reads:

Sending data to host
Loading data from host
Loading external engine C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins\BFD Stereo.dll

Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that I reinstalled jamstix already.

Are you loading a project that had Jamstix saved in it? Please do this:

- open a brand-new project in MTS
- add Jamstix

Are you getting the message?

I already did that. Confused
I tried saving a song with the internal engine selected hoping that it would remember, but when I open it I got the same message. Strange. Maybe I have something left in my registry or something like that. I spoke to Giel from MTS and he said he had it in the demo but not in the big version.
I have uninstalled it via control panel and deleted all the files and folders which were left over, and reinstalled in a clean folder. No change Mad

We've never heard of this before but the fact that Giel at MTS saw it as well in the demo makes it likely that this has something to do with MTS.

Please do this: I will send you a ZIP file with a jamstix.exe (SAVIHost-based). Please extract it into your Jamstix folder and execute it. Does it try to load BFD as well or does it load internal sounds?

Also, before that, please send me your rzdlog.txt file to support[at]rayzoon.com

I got your log and checked it out. Here is what happens. Your default mapping is internal as it should be and it loads just fine. But after that, Jamstix gets a saved status from MTS that instructs it to load BFD Stereo.

The question is why MTS is doing that. Do you recall ever manually loading a BFD mapping in Jamstix?

If I knew what a BFD mapping is I might be able to answer that question. As I said at the beginning I haven't a clue what I'm doing so I tend to press buttons just to see what happens.
By the way the exe you sent worked fine I got the GUI without any message.

That shows that your Jamstix is set up just fine. It is MTS that for some reason sends this odd data to Jamstix causing it to try to load BFD. Is there anyway you can get the MTS support to tell us if they send default chunks to VSTi when they are loaded?

I'll send a copy of this to MTS and see if Giel can figure something out.
Thanks for all your help Ralph, you run a mean forum here, it's the fastest support system I've seen. My complements.
