|
|
I have been running Sonar 2.2 and have also installed ProTools M Powered in order to work on a recording project that could only be sent to me in ProTools format.
I have just updated the VST Adaptor in Sonar 2.2 to 451.
In faith, I have just purchased Jamstix ...all of it, because this looks like it could be the best drum/rhythm thing to come along yet for me.
1/ It should run OK in Sonar 2.2 with VST Adaptor 451....Yes?
2/ Can I get it to function in Protools M Powered OK?
I am a bit overwhelmed at the moment as I try to get my head around the ProTools environment.
3/ Can I assume that if I upgrade my Sonar 2.2 to Sonar 5.01 Producer, jamstix should run without any extra stuff as I think the VST adaptor is fully integrated?
I would welcome any comments and hope this stuff is useful to different readers.
I apologise if the questions have already been asked and answered in earlier posts.
Thanks,
Richard |

Yes but Jamstix only works with PT7 + fxpansion VST/RTAS wrapper V2.

No. Sonar 5 still uses the VST adapter, just integrates it a bit more. However, Sonar 5 has more MIDI routing capabilities than Sonar 2.2, which can come in handy in certain MIDI jam situations. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph,
Pretty good news all around then.
Fortunately I have ProTools M Powered 7 and that means it can work with Jamstix. The only thing is that the VST to RTAS Adapter 2 costs an extra $99 downloadable from Fxpansion.
I think it sounds like if I've gut the Fxpansion patch to make it work in Sonar 2.2 I should be able to work in Sonar 5 if I make the jump.
I am downloading the Jamstix Data as we speak.
All the best,
Richard |

I don't understand this, please rephrase. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Maybe I misunderstood.
I already have Sonar 2.2 and have successfully downloaded the Fxpansion VST Adaptor 451 so Jamstix should work in Sonar 2.2...
I therefore made the jump in logic that if I had Sonar 5 and also had the VST Adaptor 451 already, it should work there too.
I'm a little stretched here..is that a reasonable understanding?
Thanks,
Richard |

The VST Adapter 4.5.1 is a Cakewalk product, not an fxpansion product. That's what confused me.
Yes, the CW VST 4.5.1 will work with Sonar 5 as well. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
