Firstly, I had a real chance at tryingout the full version last night, and boy is it good!!!!!!! There are chimes available and everything, lol!!! This package has everything! Jamming, rythm editor + arranger...I didn't even know you could vary the velocity on individual hitsof each piece of percussion!!!
Now, for some problems I had:
At one point, I was getting no sound out of jamstix... I got the rror message (in the bottom of the jamstix window):
FIE Update UI Update Error (Access Violation at address 09A7725D in module 'jamstix.dll'. Read address of 0000004C
Oh dear! Once I started traktion back up again, all was fine...
RIght, when the audio-in is quiet, the snare drum doesn't play on beats 1 and 2! However, when the velocity of the input gets louder, it does play...any ideas?
Auto chimes/percussion... In free jam mode, even if I disable percussion an deselect chimes etc, they do get muted for one bar, but then start again! I open the percussion tab again and it's all set back to what it was before... I think this hapened in other modes as well, but can't totally confirm that at this point.. The only way I could get rid of it was by setting fill frequency to 0...
It may be my duff ears, but don't the closed and semi hi-hat sound incredibly similar? I hope this isn't an error, lol!
As a note of interest, where is it best to put jamstix and the audio M8 filters? Before or after the volume filter on the track? I found I got best response placing m8 after the volume filter, though traktion said something like 'previous filters in the track may have no effect'...
For you users....what ambience setting do yuo like to use? I find keeping it in the middle sounds fine
Despite the above, I had MAJOR fun last night with jamstix! It was TOTALLY the right choice for me |

Hi all, i am new and have some questions.
1) In Manual Jam is the velocity unchangeable throught the song?
2)I am using POD XT Live and when i am in free jam mode, i am hearing 2 sounds from my guitar (Lag). Any idea?

Sort of read thru. It talks abt end to end. If it is disabled, jamstix cannot detect the audio signal from my guitar and thus i cant use free jam.

If this happens again, please immediately send your rzdlog.txt file from the Jamstix folder to support[at]rayzoon.com and reference this thread or topic.

Yes, this is the result of 'reduction'. You can disable reduction in the jam tab ('Allow Reduction').

If this happens again, use 'Save bank' in Tracktion to create a FXB file of the state Jamstix is in and send it to us.

No, they are quite different. Please check for yourself via the 'Audit' button in the mapping tab.

Doesn't really matter but audioM8 should be after the volume so you can control the level it sees. Jamstix should be after so you can control Jamstix output if need be.

This will likely vary from song type to song type.
Thanks for your kind words and we'll help sorting the issues out. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

You can change it via an automation envelope on 'Velocity' in the host.

Sounds like an end-to-end config issue in Tracktion that was discussed somewhere in the forum... _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Concerning the "end2end" issue. The Toneport and the PodXT-Live (over USB) let the user monitor its sound. But when enabling end2end in Tracktion one will hear both, the monitor signal of the sound device, i.e. Toneport or PodXT, and the signal which is monitored through Tracktion. So you should disable the monitoring in the certain software for the audio device, in order to avoid hearing both signals at the same time. Thus you avoid the effect of latency, which results in an echo here.
For the Toneport you can do that in Gearbox. For the PodXT Live, which I owned some time ago, you can do that in the driver application, which should be available as shortcut in your Line6 folder.
Hope this helps!

In Tracktion, click on "new filter" and load Jamstix into a track.
Each track in Tracktion has an "A" (for Automation) symbol on the right hand side. Click on the "A" , then "automatable parameters for this track" and if you hover over "Jamstix" you should see a list of lots of Jamstix parameters that you can automate.
Click on "Velocity" and Tracktion will draw a red line (or envelope/automation curve) representing the velocity that Jamstix will play at. You can click on the line and create points on the line at which the height of the line can be changed.
You could use this (for example) to have Jamstix to play loud for 4 bars, and then quiet for 4 bars and then loud for 2 bars etc. It's very useful, and there a loads of parameters that you can automate. Obviously you can use it with other instruments as well.
Check out Chapter 7.1 in the Traction 2 manual for more details.
Hope this helps!

Good explanation above..
Right...firstly, jamstix is AWESOME!!!!! I'm LOVING it!!! The internal sounds are fab and the whole package is just excellent.
Now... I STILL can't get any sound out of this metronome! What am I doing wrong? It's active etc... is it output on out1? Whare eam I going wrong here.. I don't like traktion's internal metronome.. |

Jamstix outputs the metronome on channel 3. In order to hear it you'll need to put Jamstix inside a rack filter, and change the rack filter settings:
left output comes from : channel 5
right output comes from: channel 6
I'm not sure how you can hear the drums at the same time, unless you split metronome left, drums right (for example).
Hope that helps
