Hi

I am finding my way around Jamstix at the mo and was wondering if I was getting the MIDI jam right...

There are 3 MIDI tracks...

1. Midi in... Jamstix Midi out... BFD
2. Midi in... Midi interface Midi out.... Jamstix
3. Midi in... Midi interface Midi out... Instrument

Monitor is on for all three.

Now what is happening is that the velocity slider in free jam moves around but it isn't very controlled. When I play the keyboard very quietly it is quiet but then jumps up to max velocity.

What am I doing wrong?

Plus, are there any tutorials showing how to use the arrange and rythm bits cause to be honest I don't really understand it, although I've only spent a few hours with it.

Confused

Your setup looks fine. Please set the input trim knob in the bottom of Jamstix to the middle position and also check that the input velocity map in the mapping tab is linear (click R to make sure). You can also draw a custom curve there to adjust the response to your liking.

Did you watch the video tutorials on the web site?

Cheers for the reply again, much appreciated. Smile

It was mostly the input map that was the problem. I have changed that and put a compressor on the electric piano part to limit the dynamics a bit and its sounding a whole lot better.

On the subject of the videos on the web, I watched them before buying Jamstix and felt that they were too short and rushed for my personal taste.

I'll have another look now that I know my way around the program a bit though.

Cheers mate.

Cool
