Hello,
I purchased my copy of Jamstix today and I have it installed and working. I know I'm going to love this product. I know you've answered this question a thousand times but please allow me to ask again. How do I record what's coming out of Jamstix into my projects?
I'm currently using Sonar 4.0.2 SE. From what I've read on here, I don't think I need Directixer. If you can point me in the right direction I'd sure appreciate it.
Thank you for your time and patience.

Believe it or not, I have been searching this board for information on how to record what's happening in Jamstix but I'm still confused. From what I've read here, I only need the Directixer if I'm going to be sending midi to an external module. Is this correct?
All I want to know is how do I get what's happening in Jamstix into my project in Sonar 4 SE.
Thanks,
JP |

Hi JP
Don't know Sonar, but you probably can record midi out, and then Jamstix can play the midi track in manual mode.
Also you can export the midi in Jamstix, but read the manual.
Also you can save the arrangement in Jamstix, again, read the manual for a full explanation.
Like I say, I dont know Sonar, but it may have a mixdown feature for VST instruments.
I hope this helps _________________ john-studio64

There is a discussion in the Jamstix-Sonar support section about this.
You will probably get more help there.

I have read every message in the Jamstix-Sonar group and I still don't get it. But I'll go back through and see if I can pick up something I've missed.
I'm used to working with "session drummer" in Sonar and after I've laid down all of my tracks in midi I bounce them to audio. So when I hear about "freezing" and Directixer in the discussion I'm lost.
Thanks |

Th VST Adapter in SONAR does not transmit Midi Output data, so you cannot record "on-the-fly" There Several things you can do...Buy the Directixer vst wrapper which does allow midi output for "on-the-fly recording. (never used it myself). You can save your arrangement as a midi file and import it back inot Sonar, or you can freeze the track which creates an audio snapshot of the arrangement. In order to freeze the track, you must have a midi event placed at the beginning and end of the track so jamstix knows what to freeze. I have probably confused you even more, but those are your options.
Freesing is explained in the Sonar Manual...might be a good place to start. |
