Hey all,

I finally got round to getting Jamstix installed and, from the half hour I've had a look at it, it seems like a potentially great piece of software...

Anyway - I've done a quick rough-and-ready mapping (here) which, thanks to the universal nature of the ns_kit7 presets, will work with all the kits (when loaded into HALion). For extra realism, drop in the round-robin patches.

Here are a couple of demos which literally took me 10 minutes to put together. The MIDI is completely unedited and I was doing all the variations on the fly within Jamstix. The only thing I did was add some foot-controller info for the hi-hat.

Enjoy!

Douglas.

Hi,

do I have to buy HALion to use ns_kit7 with Jamstix? I think I've asked this question before on this forum, however, I have no idea whatsoever of how to do mappings. I'm going to buy Jamstix, I'll most likely put my order in tomorrow and I would also like to purchase the full ns_kit7 to work with it.

This is the software I currently use to create music:

Sonar 4 Studio Edition
Sample Tank XL
Roland Sound Canvas

And I'm going to add Jamstix.

So the question again is, will I be able to use the ns_kit7 without having to purchase anything else.

Wow, Douglas, nice demos, especially the shuffle! I can hear a song develop on that one right away....

Thanks for sharing!

In simple terms, ns_kit7 is a sampled instrument library with over 18GB of 48khz/24bit single strike drum samples. It also comes with HALion 3 presets.

In otherwords, ns_kit7 isn't a standalone VSTi. However, for the same price as most other drum sample libraries of similar depth, you can get ns_kit7 *and* HALion player.
