|
|
Here's the current Jamstix beta. Use at your own risk. Any feedback is greatly appreciated as it helps us shake out the bugs!
YOU MUST HAVE JAMSTIX 1.5 INSTALLED FOR THIS BETA TO WORK.
Demo Users -> http://66.235.201.50/demos/jamstixX9-9demo.zip
Jamstix Owners -> http://66.235.201.50/updates/jamstixX9-9.zip
(Use ID and password that came with your Jamstix delivery)
X9-9
- 'Load Mapping' dialog now offers filtering, previewing and mapping contents listing
- MIDI key D5 (#86) now chokes the last hit crash, splash or china cymbals
- added 'Random' button to mapping tab to randomize kick, snare and hihat selections
- fixed voice release issues at very high latencies
X9-8
- fixed internal sounds loading when LateWSLoad active but 'MIDI Out Only' specified
- added 'eMode' for use with ePak (not active without ePak)
- improved voice reduction quality
- fixed closed hats playing at full velocity when choking semi or open hats
X9-7
- Funkiness can now be controlled via controller 50 and complexity via 51. Note that using these controllers makes the jam session un-repeatable so you need to record the Jamstix MIDI output if you want to capture the performance
- increased limb transition time to the hihat when playing fills, intros or endings
- fixed suppression of left hand snare hits under certain circumstances introduced in the last betas
- fixed MIDI export BPM rounding issue
- optional 'Accentuation' and 'CymbalFrequency' ini parameters now also influence default rhythm settings of accent and cymbal sliders
X9-6
- 8th shuffle play now suppresses 16ths before quarters leading to better fitting fill and accent performances
- when repeating an audio free jam, Jamstix now maintains decisions and repeats the jam identical unless 'Clear Arrangement' is used
- fixed 'Always Ride' automation
- suppresses rhythm change crash when switching muted rhythms
- mouse-over on hihat slots now shows velocity information
- improved limb assignment logic to avoid high priority note dropping under certain circumstances
- added 'Mute Brain' automation parameter to allow manual silencing without choked notes
- implements some interfaces for JamBassist integration
X9-5
- right-click on a rhythm name in the arranger now opens a menu with the options to load, name, remove or move the rhythm
- single-bar liveloops are now possible
X9-4
- fixed some missing note-off events in MIDI export and output when 'MIDI-Out Only' is active and some under circumstances are given
- tom->snare replacement fill filter now also includes Tom #5 and all bounce sounds.
- fixed ride using hats on 8th and 16th with new hat jam habit active.
- rhythm changes to a rhythm with no kick on beat 1 will no longer allow the change crash/kick combo to be played
- the preset menu for sub-hosted VSTi is now updated whenever the 'Preset' button is clicked
- the following default values can now be set in the jamstix.ini file:
- FillFrequency
- CymbalFrequency
- Accentuation
- Complexity
- Funkiness
X9-3
- fixed only toms 1 and 5 being used with external sounds
- fill option dialog is now also accessible in manual jam mode
- added new jam habit: if all quarter hihats are semi or open, notes generated by the 'Eighths' and 'Sixteenth' boxes will use semi instead of closed sounds
- when locking a rhythm that is not active in the arranger with Jamstix paused, Jamstix no longer switches to the active rhythm
X9-2
- added fill filters/limits to allow simplification of fill playback via an icon next to the 'Fill Frequency' slider.
- fixed volume displays including other outputs when using multi-out mapping
- Jamstix now remembers last directory a sound DLL was loaded from
- Jamstix no longer loads support data when scanned by Cakewalk VST adapter
- latency is now continuously updated to avoid synch problems when latency is changed in the host while JS is open
- when used in Logic, a BarOffset of 10 is now automatically used
X9-1
- improved semi hat, open hat and tom voice concurrency (apparent choking) with higher voice reduction levels
- added arrows to sample list for easy 'step-through'
- fixed percussion checkboxes not showing active status when clicked with right mouse button
- mapping sample list now remembers last selection

In Tracktion 2.1.0.6 Jamstix X9-1 does not load the default map. When I try to load it manually it says the file cannot be read. All other maps are fine.
Could this be a beta issue or is my map defunct suddenly?

It's a locked handle. Please restart your machine and it should be fine. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

First let me say... jamstix is an excellent program, having way to much fun putting drum tracks together...
What I actually came to say was that the new Up and down arrows next to the sample list seem to do the same thing...scroll down the list. up arrow as well as down arrow move down the list...just thought I would mention it. |

You're right. That's quite pathetic on our part
Will be fixed in X9-2. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi!
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just an annoyance for me. Using the latest demo, I made an arrangement for a song in free jam mode. Then I switched to manual jam, since I was happy for what jamstix had jammed. Anyway, the song wasn't finished so I made new parts and thought I'd use free jam to make the drums for the ending of the song as well. I left Cubase to the point which was new and also saw that this point was active in the arrangement window as well. OK. I pushed free jam and all the arrangement was wiped clean. I don't remember having this kind of trouble with previous versions, but it might be that I'm wrong. Well, taught me to lock the arrangement... |

Clicking on free jam will clear the arrangement and this is not a new thing in 1.5
We'll see if we can do something about that...it was initially done to separate the two modes so users don't get confused with partial previous manual jams and free jams. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Oh, OK, I usually make the initial drum pattern with free jam and change to manual, but this time I did it when I wasn't finished yet and then changed back. So this might have been teh first time I did it this way. Thank you for the answer (Eh, I'm going go and post my weekly spam on the jamstix song thread ) |

The filter box to simplify fills in X9-2 is a great idea....
Does it only work in freeJam? As it seems only available in the controls when to step to the freejam or wordjam tabs?
How about one for manual Jam?
Also what are the new 'arrows' in the mapping page supposed to do? I'm confused

We'll work on that. Just wanted to get this feature into the beta for testing.

They let you step through the list without having to open it. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I know I'm repeating myself here... but having this filter to make fills simpler is great... and Yes It'd be AWESOME to have it for manual jam....
And what would be JUST PERFECT would be the ability to be able to put 'accents' on individual patterns in the arrange window... like we can with the Fills!
I think I'll do a 'poll' koinda post on this one!

You can't do that in the arranger but you can in the rhythm tab. Or do I misunderstand you? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I think the point is, we want to be able to insert them where we want them in our arrangement. Can we do that ? |
