|
|
I have just downloaded beta X9-2 (demo)but have never installed a beta before.
When I click on the "jamstixX9-2demo" file it opens "jamstix demo.dll".
When I click on "jamstix demo.dll", I get a caution windos that says:
"You are attempting to open a file of type 'Application Extension" (.dll)
These files are used by the operating system and by various programs. Editing or modifying them could damage your computer.
If you still want to open the file click Open With or Cancel."
Perhaps this is exactly what I should be seeing - I don't know what I should have expected.
How should I procede?
Ralph,
Thanks for addressing my concern so quickly. I look forward to seeing the results.

| You simply must copy the .dll to your original Jamstix folder (which is often in the VST plugin folder of your host application). When you´re prompted to overwrite the old .dll, simply click "Yes". |

Thanks, Doc.
Now to be more specific - how do I do that. Do I continue with "Open" and then "Open with" ..... Or do I not open the file at all - just right click, copy, and paste in my jamsticks folder?

| Don´t open the file. Just copy it to your Jamstix folder and overwrite the existing .dll there. |

| FWIW, rather than overwrite the original file, I rename it (the current one will become 'jamstix.x91'). That way, if the beta falls over, it's easy to delete the new .dll file and rename the old one back to jamstix.dll . |

| Yeah, I always keep the older .dlls in a different directory, where my downloads are. So I can always revert back. |

Good idea Fingers and Doc. Thank you. I'll do that next time.
