NOTE BY ZAUNI: Unfortunately I clicked EDIT and not QUOTE when answering CompyFoxes message so I screwed his message up. Hopefully, the quoting in my subsequent post will allow following his basic questions.

Sorry, CompyFox!!

1) More output for the soundengine
Yup! It's nice to have 4 outputs with the internal soundengine, but it'd be a bit more versatile to have more like 8 outputs. This way you can route every sound from the engine to an own channel, which can then be treatened seperately. Drums on Channel 1 for example, Snare on Channel 2, Hats on Channel 4, Crashes on Channel 5, Toms on Channel 6, Percussion on Channel 7 and Ambience on Channel 8.

Already done in 1.5. Please select the desired number of outputs in the mapping tab and restart Jamstix. Now you can send any sound to any output (up to 17) with the output slider in the mapping tab.

2) Percussions in the Arranger.
Well I recently saw this inthe main window (playmode) only, but it'd be nice to have this feature in the arranger window too. Maybe with possibilities like the hats?

There will be a separate percussion plugin to fully satisfy percussive needs.

3) Drag and Drop of the Pattern to the Sequencer

We're looking into this for Jamstix 2.

4) More quiet "ghost strokes"
Also maybe a beauty issue, but is it maybe possible to turn down the ghost strokes (snare) more quiet than V=10? Down to V=5 would be nice but I guess that depends on the drumpack or the used samples how it sounds.

We'll put that on the list.

1) Maybe I did something wrong, but... I had a pretty busy pattern going on with snare (triplets) and hats (beat, 2x16th, semi). So two hands were going wild already. Now if I write a pattern in the toms window (one green dot per tombeat - like 1 -> 1dot, 1+ -> 1dot, 2 -> 1dot, 2+ ->1dot, etc), then you still hear the hats playing. As if the drummer can hit three things at once at an incredible speed. Is that normal?

The engine allows for hand-switching as many drummers do so you can get things like this done but please send me a FXB (Save Bank) of that rhythm to support[at]rayzoon.com so we can verify this.

2) What's bugging me a bit is that the engine takes a bit till all samples run flawlessly. If I start with Beat 1 and there's a pattern for it, chances are that the first couple of samples are ignored. In live play and also while exporting. I didn't test it if it works with Jamstix starting on beat 2 only, but it's a bit strange. I'm using Cubase SX3.1 (latest patch).

Jamstix does synch stuff on bar 1 that can cause these problems. Please give JS bar 1 and 2 as empty synch bars and start your song on 3. We are working on fixing this in JS2.

Speaking of which... I still don't get the output thing with external VSTi's. Does that mean in the mapping window, if I set the "output" of a sample to let's say 8 or 9. Does that mean that it corresponds to MIDI channel 9? The outputs can go up to 17, which gives me that impression.

No, those are the audio outputs I mentioned above. MIDI channels are controlled via the main MIDI channel setting in the mapping tab and optional splicing in the jamstix.ini file (see manual for details)

Thanks for taking your time reading this and maybe consider my ideas for the one of the next updates.

Thanks for your input!!

Wait, but does that mean that I have "more" volume sliders in my sequencer too? (in this case Cubase SX)? Cause this is what I'm looking for. So far it gave me only 4 stereo busses.

Hm... then how does this run in synch with Jamstix? You know... Tamburine on the hats only for example. And how does it relate to the "real drummer" brain. Just curious. Wink

Okay... I'll take a look at this again and send it to you.

Ah... Clears a lot. Guess I have to adapt to that then. Thanks for the info.

Hm... back to the blueprints then...

Again... thanks for answering and taking your time. Jamstix really improved my workflow.

Yes, it will. Change the output number in Jamstix, start a new project in SX, load Jamstix into the rack and you will see the new outputs. In existing projects you probably have to manually add them.

Rayzoon products will interact with each other using their own protocol. That's how the percussion plugin will be able to know about the JS hats.

Hm... sounds interesting. Can hardly wait.

I'll test that thing with the outputs and hook you up with my pattern. Hope to get that to you in the next 3-4 hours.

Ah btw...
Is it also possible to write you in german by chance (you're native?)? Maybe I found another thing or two which might be a bit better to describe in german.
