We have just released FreePak. You can grab it here:
http://www.rayzoon.com/freepak.html
This is a collection of samples from DrumPak #1, DrumPak #2 and the upcoming SnarePak with reduced velocity layers and x-samples. If you are using the Jamstix demo and would like to get a taste of what Jamstix sounds like with the sound expansions or are a Jamstix owner who is thinking about purchasing DrumPaks, this Pak's for you...
NOTE FOR X8 BETA USERS: YOU MUST HAVE X8-15 OR HIGHER OR THE FREEPAK WILL PLAY WITH VERY LOW VOLUME _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Is Free Pak safe to install if you already have the pack the sample is taken from - could I for example only install the snare pack demo portion? |

It's safe to install over the Paks but if you want to be extra-cautious you can unzip it into a temp folder and then just copy what you want.
The only elements from the SnarePak are all samples that start with 'Snare...' _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yep - I unzipped them already and decided just to copy the snare samples so everything is working fine.
BTW - just checking out some of the various samples again - that Stage Custom set is really nice. Can you tell me anything more about that kit - Yamaha Stage Custom? |

That's actually the default kit of Jamstix. It's a Stage Custom kit with Sabbian Evolution HHX cymbals. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Yes - I know it isn't from the expansion packs - otherwise it would be in the lists
I like the resonant tone of the kick a lot - nice to play with an ekit - and the snare and toms sound great too. Don't know how much is due to the recording/processing and how much is just the kit itself - either way the results are v. nice. Just in case I want to look for one someday - which particular kit was sampled - year/model etc. Is this regarded as a particularly desirable Yamaha kit? |

I don't remember the year but it was a standard Stage Custom kit, nothing fancy, with Remo heads all around. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Well, it really is just a demo. We're not giving anything away for free. These sounds do have reduced velocity layers and less X-samples compared to the real thing.
But they are quite usable... _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I just downloaded the freepak. I already had DP1 installed. I guess during the install, some of the original DP1 sounds were reinstalled.
Anyways, after loading the freepak mapping, the volumes of the freepak sounds including DP2 bass drum, maple snare, hi hats and others are playing at very low volumes in comparison to my other mappings. I can barely raise them to a listenable audio level. I was wondering what may be causing this problem.
Thanks... |

You must be using a X8 beta. The layer reduction in the FreePak is not compatible with it.
To fix this, just update to the latest beta, X8-15. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

As far as I understand, FreePak is just a demo for the full packs.
So it is not necessary to install FreePak if you have all full Paks.
Can you confirm this ?
I definitely will buy the SnarePak when it comes out.
Thanks again for this great product.
I hope JamBass will be released soon. |

Hi Peter,
Yes, FreePak is not needed if you have DrumPak #1 and DrumPak #2. However, FreePak does include a snare from SnarePak. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
