Hello,

I have been seriouosly considering purchasing Jamstix. However, the music I write is more in the smooth jazz realm and Jamstix seems a little wild to me at times. So here's the question.

Were the drums in the demo song "Close - Stereo 3" in DrumPak #2 done free hand or with Jamstix? I'm hoping it was with Jamstix because this is type of thing I'm looking for. But it could have been done free hand to demonstrate the sounds of the drums in DrumPak #2.

That particular demo was done in Jamstix (not free hand) by ZioKiller, who also frequents this board.

Jamstix can be 'tamed'

I'd be happy to assist you with specific methods and approaches.

I recommend you download the FreePak that we released today as it has a nice 'light' and 'tight' kit compared to the default kit. I would then experiment with the free jam as follows:

- low funkiness and medium-to-low complexity
- conservative hat style (you need to download the latest demo beta for that, available here: http://rayzoon.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=857
- accentuation zero, cymbal hits zero, fills zero (for now)

Now let Jamstix free jam a bit by itself with no input and just get a feel for the grooves it makes. Hit the 'Reset' button in the free jam tab once in a while to force JS to come up with something new. Now change a slider or box in the jam tab here and there, one at a time, and see the effect(s) it has.

Thank you for the fast reply. I'll do as you suggested and I'll get back to when I can. However, I don't think I'm on the fence any longer. As soon as I get my ducks lined up I'll be purchasing Jamstix. As I said before, I have been considering Jamstix for quite some time. But recently I came across another drum software product. When I first heard this other product I was ready to jump on it. So I kept comparing the two for sound quality. Jamstix always came out on top but ease of use was an issue for me. The other product just seemed easier to use. But this is what has finally won me over to Jamstix. Customer service and support.

I believe Jamstix is a great product, although I'm an extreme novice. But it's not good enough to just have a great product. My hat is off to you for your support of the product. So I'll be buying Jamstix as soon as I can and I'm sure I'll be bugging you for some help from time to time.
