I am a recent purchaser of Jamstix and owner of Douglas' NS_kit7 commercial. I LOVE Jamstix!

Ns_kit7 has a myriad of left hand, right hand sample variations in his kits. Is there a way to map this out in Jamstix so it takes full advantage of NS_kits vast sample depth, so all the left/right hand parameters will translate to Halion Player 3?

Thank you very much:)

That is something we have been looking at but it is on the backburner at this point.

Thank you for your quick response.

Just to clarify (if needed), I don't need an actual mapping, more so, the ability to map Jamstix's right hand, and it's left hand to make rolls a little more realistic:)

Thank you very much for your software and your time.

Are you loading HALion into Jamstix or do you route Jamstix MIDI-out to HALion?

Also, do you know what sn_prs stands for in the NS7 manual? It's on key 40. Is it a drag, bounce type sound?

I was using the MIDI out. Should I try loading it into JS instead?

I will check on the roll. I'm not at that PC at the moment, but will look into it tonight:)

No, I just wanted to know for initial testing.

Sorry for the delay. The key that you had asked about was indeed a one-handed-roll (drag), as you'd mentioned.

I got much better results when I loaded the Random-Robin drums provided by Douglas. It makes use of incorperated L/R samples, and there was no machine gun effect at all. It was made for E-drums, and works wonderfully with Jamstix.

Is there a way I can add more instruments to map? He has a lot of cymbals in his kits, and I'm not sure If there are enough slots in a normal mapping, If I am doing it correctly.

Congrats on this software and sounds!!! Jamstix is MILES ahead of any of the other rhythm generators. You're gonna flip when you hear how good Jamstix and NS_Kit7 work together.

You can't add anything but JS supports 2x Crash,2 x Splash and 2 x China for a total of 6 cymbals (excluding ride and hats)

Thanks! Would love to hear a MP3 sample if you get a chance!

Hey lion_tone,

Just noticed your post over at the naturalstudio message board about using ns_kit with Jamstix - glad to hear you're getting some good sounds from it. The sheer number of velocity layers (and, yes, RR) makes it something of a dream to use with Jamstix, I'd imagine.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to try the combination out yet, so I too would certainly be interested in hearing any mp3 demos you might have up your sleeve...!

And yes, "prs" stands for press roll. Basically, it means you can create highly convincing snare rolls by playing left and right hand "prs" hits in quick succession. It also means you're not restricted to a certain tempo. See 2min25sec into this ns_kit7 demo to hear what I'm talking about (actually, "prs" hits are all over that demo!).

Douglas.
