| Hi there. I am a Sonar HS XL user trying to evaluate Jamstix via the demo copy. I have downloaded and installed. I then used my VST wrapper for Sonar to recongnize. Everything seems to work since a Jamstix window pops up to tell me there are 3 ways to use. However, in Sonar, I try to insert Jamstix as a VST in the Insert drop down menu, however JS does not appear in the list with the rest of my VST's. Can someone help? |

Look in the VST submenu. In Sonar 4, the menu sequence is:
Insert->DXi Synth->VST->Jamstix Demo
Let me know if this doesn't help. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

There is no Jamstix demo under this menu and yet the VST wrapper appears to recognize it. By the way, I have Sonar Home Studio 4 XL. |

That's really odd. I'd recommend using the DirectiXer demo ( http://www.tonewise.com ) and loading jamstix demo.dll into it. After restarting Sonar, Jamstix will then show up in Sonar under a new submenu 'Rayzoon'. Make sure to check 'Alternate Window Sizing Method' in the options for Jamstix in DirectiXer.
If it works with DirectiXer then we have identified the wrapper/Sonar connection as the problem and can go from there.
DirectiXer will happily coexist with the Cakewalk wrapper so this won't screw anything up. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Just to let you know with DirectXer I can now see Jamstix demo in Sonar under DXi's. However, I have never had this issue with any other VST. Not sure if this is the wrapper or jamstix. I am not overjoyed at having to buy a new program to load only one VST.
Have loaded Jamstix into Sonar using insert, I cannot see the GUI. All I see is a limited set of buttons with little functionality. Can you help? |

We'll have to figure out what's wrong with your wrapper config. Please use regedit.exe to look at this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk VST Adapter\Inventory
Highlight the key underneath that has the path to jamstix demo.dll so its properties are shown. Take a full-size screenshot of the properties and send them to support at rayzoon.com

Open DirectiXer, go to the Jamstix entry and open the 'Options'. Check 'Alternate Window Sizing Method' and save. The GUI will now show in Sonar. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sorry. How do you take a screenshot?

Hit the 'Prt Scrn' on your keyboard, then open Paint and hit Edit-Paste, then save as JPG and send it to us. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I have solved my VST wrapper issues and I can see the full Jamstix GUI. However, I cannot get Jamstix to Jam when I follow the instructions. Sorry for needing so much help.
I have inserted Jamstix. I have created a midi track into which I have pasted some piano midi data that I want to drive Jamstix. Output for this midi track is JS VST. Input Echo is on for this midi track. Still no sound. What am I doing wrong? |

That all sounds good. Now click'Free Jam' in the jam tab and hit play in Sonar. After a few beats, Jamstix will play. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Have tried all. I can see the bar print meter in JS reacting to the midi data but still no sound. |

Sounds as if you didn't install the sound package. You must run jamstix_data_setup.exe (210MB file) and point it to the same folder you installed the 'Jamstix' folder in. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
