|
|
I have some projects which will only open completely if I have last used Jamstix with "midi out only" checked. If not they will get to the point where Jamstix is loading and just get stuck. I need to close Cubase in the Task Manager and restart the machine, reopen Cubase, open another project with Jamstix in it and check 'Midi Out Only". Then the affected projects will open all the way every time.
The affected projects are pretty big with BFD kits or whatever - eg 1.3 - 1.5 GB of RAM load on my 2GB (with 3GB switch in Boot.ini) system.
However, is worth noting that once these projects are open I can actually uncheck Midi Out Only and load any Jamstix kit I like and the song works just fine. So it is not strictly a lack of available RAM that is the issue. i can usually load Cubase SX projects well above 1.5 GB - even more than 1.9 GB will work.
I also tried selecting "Internal Silence" as the current kit in one of these affected projects and leaving Midi Out Only unchecked - no dice on re-opening. Again it halted at Jamstix load up.
Is Jamstix compiled with"LargeAddressAware" checked?
Regards,
Phil |

I'm not sure that a large RAM load is a necessary precondition for seeing this problem - I just got it again while loading a project. Task manager showed the load process frozen at 299 MB RAM load.
BTW I am on XP SP1/AMD Athlon 64 X2 so I don't think the execution thing you have linked to is likely to apply. |

We'll have to research that. What Jamstix version are you using? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

8-11 beta when I wrote the above but I have been seeing this problem for a while - some weeks I think and occasionally over months before that. |

I'm going to make a special debug DLL that will allow us to pinpoint the issue further. I'll have this sometime tomorrow. Your help in fixing this is greatly appreciated! _________________ Ralph Zeuner
