Hi , Using cubase 3x ,I have a jamstix arrangment that is just the way i want it , when i export midi track and load it into project with jamstix as out, i get a close but not the same performance ( lound cymbals on the four and dynamics seem gone )
Are there any common mistakes/settings i could be making, missing ?
I'm VERY good at that!

How are you playing back the MIDI file? You should be using 'Manual Jam' with 'Mute Brain' checked.

Try recording the MIDI output from Jamstix rather than exporting and see if it makes a difference.

I've recorded midi track in project and it doesnt sound anything like the arrangment , also importing doesn't do it either ( tho that method is much closer to the original arrangment , it just has no velocity changes and constant cymbals on the 4.
I just want to be able to preserve an arrangment performance, velocity and all without having to send a track (via insert) to jamstix to get the velocity changes.
any suggestions would be welcome !.

Something is amiss here. Recording the MIDI output will give you a 100% accurate reflection of the performance. You can then feed the data into a Jamstix that has 'Manual Jam', 'Mute Brain','Jam With MIDI' all checked and it will sound the same.

Aside from this you could just freeze Jamstix, which will also reduce your CPU usage.

As a follow on to this thread, is the only way to record MIDI output directly from Jamstix through Directxizer, correct? Is this also the only way to record the multiple outputs of the drum kit? I've been using the VST adapter in SONAR and exporting my MIDI file back into the track then bouncing it.

Thanks,

Matt

In Sonar only DirectiXer allows recording of MIDI output.

Also, if you do not use an audio signal to control Jamstix velocity, you can just freeze Jamstix in Sonar instead of export/import/bounce. Freezing requires a dummy MIDI event at the start and the end of the song.
