Hi Ralph,
Would it be possible to get an update that allows for proper editing in 6/8? i consider this to be the ONLY absolutely essential thing that jamstix needs at this point. i think that 6/8 is a common enough tim sig and the way the it is handled at the moment doesn't allow for the creation of natural sounding 6/8 patterns. I understand that it would require some sort of major interface change, but like i said i think 6/8 is an important enough time sig to warrant this. it's pretty standard really, probably the second most common time sig after 4/4. i understand the program not natively supporting irregular meters like 7/8, they're nice, but not really essential.

at the moment if you want a 6/8 pattern with the snare on 4, you have to create two patterns of 3 beats and alternate them in the arranger. and i still can't get the exact kick pattern i want because it skips the 16th before notes of the 1st and 4th beats. it also has a tendency to skip beats and get a bit lost sometimes. Also accent groupings for 6/8 should be on 1 and 4 on the HH. it's impossible to stop jamstix from accenting on 1, 3 and 5, unless you make all notes the same volume, which doesn't sound natural!

don't get me wrong i love jamstix, it's easily the best VSTi i've ever used. as i said that's really the only problem i have, but i consider it to be quite a big issue. anything in 4/4 is absolutely kick ass though...

Yeah, you're right.
For me it would be much more useful if 6/8 wasn't treated as 3/4 but rather as 2/4 with triplet eights.

Supporting 12/8 as 4/4 with 3plet 8ths would be even better! Smile

Yes, I agree with the 6/8 issues. Not sure what can be done in a free update but JS2 will solve this and also allow odd time sigs natively.

However, you can solve the snare and hihat issues mentioned in Jamstix already. Here is a 6/8 sample rhythm that plays the snare on the 4 and has proper hihat velocities. Simply save it into your 'rhythms' folder and load it as 'Basic 68' with the host running in 6/8.

Yes I'm looking forward to Jamstix 2, and 12/8 is a must for all the blues and blues rock jammers when Jam Bass is out.

Wow, that pattern works really well! I can always customize it a little by recording it through the midi out and tweaking. This will save me lots of time!

There are also several 6/8 rhythms in the library, use the keyword '6/8' to find them.

We will also try to get more 6/8 rhythms into the Jamstix 1.5 update.
