Hi - using cubase 3x ,
Set up in audio mode and free jam , jamstix shows audio input on meter at bottom , but i get no reaction to audio signal ( bass) as i play , just the random pattern as it syncs to a empty track playing , I really have read the PDF too!
Thanks for any help

Hi Wals,
So the velocity slider on the bottom of Jamstix is moving with your audio signal? That would indicate all is well, what exactly do you mean with no reaction to the audio signal. Is Jamstix playing a rhythm? In audio jam, all Jamstix can do with the audio signal is detect its volume to adjust velocity. Rhythm composition itself is based on the settings of the jam tab. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks for the response!!
I've got it going now ( i wasn't loading a pattern as you said)
but i dont really notice any reaction to my playing ( accents or velocity )
not like the examples posted , is there any way to really check that it is adjustting to the audio input ?
I'm dying to buy this if i can get it to do what i believe it can do !

In audio jam mode, Jamstix only adjusts velocity which you can tell by the velocity slider moving. The accent hits in the tutorial are only possible in MIDI jam mode where Jamstix can perform percussive and harmonic analysis. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
Thanks again for your help , the velocity only explains alot , can you tell me is it normal for the velocity to take a measure or two to react to the velocity changes ?
Example: i would play , then stop and it takes about 4-8 beats to come back down in volume/snare rimshots - could it be in the vsti section in cubase setup that its having a latency issue?
Cubase 3.1sx
Athlon 3700
1 gig ram
Thanks again and i am real impressed with this program - really amazing!

There is a smoothing process to avoid erratic changes in velocity. You can control this with the little vertical slider in the right bottom corner of Jamstix. See if this helps you optimize the responsiveness.
Also, look at the 'Free Jam Quick Start' PDF in your Jamstix manual folder, which contains details on how to set min velocities or modify the input velocity map to optimize the velocity behavior for your specific play. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph , amazing support ! I got it all worked out now with good realistic dynamic adjustment with audio,
When i buy the full version, will I be able to save jam performance as a midi file that could then be tweeked at a later time?
Just so you know i am a newbie vsti person - all my previous daw
recording has been on Ensoniqs PARIS setup - recently adding Cubase sx so i can get in on some of this action!
And props from Charlotte NC !

You can actually try that out in the demo version. You can either record the MIDI out of Jamstix in a MIDI track in Cubase (add a track and set input=Jamstix) or you can export an arrangement via 'Export To MIDI' in the Jamstix arranger tab. Both functions are limited to bars 1 thru 4 in the demo version. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
