Ray,
Just upated to 1.5 and bought Drumpack1. Really like DP1, BTW....nice sounding kit. Look forward to more.
Tryng to break out of the 4/4 mold I've been working a tune in 6/4. I am admittedly low on experience with sigs other than 4/4. Using Samplitude 8 with song def sig set to 6/4. Getting some strangeness out of Jamstix in the way of what sounds like random samples hanging for a second or two, like an artificial sounding machine gun rapid hhat, etc. In addition, the fills don't seem to work well and some are just silent. Any suggestions? Am I doing something stupid or againt Jamstix law by using 6/4? The only reason I picked 6/4 is that it seemed to fit the intital song riff as I wrote it on acoustic guitar. Was trying to make the drums match the diddy intead of the diddy match the drums for a change. |

I hope you upgraded to 1.4 and not 1.5. Otherwise you're way ahead of us
Jamstix can only 'understand' 2/4, 4/4, 3/4 and 6/8. However, it has facilities to track time sig changes which makes compounding possible. In your example, you would set up your host to alternate between 4/4 and 2/4 bars.
Hope this helps! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sorry 1.4.....4 and 5 are only one laptop key apart for fat fingers.
Not sure if you are familiar with Samplitude.....but does your suggestion mean I would need to create a butt-load of tempo markers in the song....alternating 4/4 and 2/4 from marker to marker....basically each bar would require two markers? Also, didn't you add half measure fills a while back.....didn't see any indication of it in v1.4??? |

It may be a pain in Samplitude. In other hosts it's easy: for example in Sonar I set one sig change and then copy the two bars with repetition set to 200 or so and I'm done.
You can see the length of the fills in the fill screen. It will say 'Starts at 3' for half-measure fills when you click on them in the list. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Btw, another way to handle the 6/4 is to make it a 6/8 at half the tempo. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I can easily cut'n'paste replicate time sig markers in Samplitude like you suggest. Will make for a busy display though. I will give it a try....thnx. |

AlanB | I was thinking that myself. I don't have Tracktion in front of me but I don't think there is an easy way to do that. _________________ darcyb62 |
