I've ordered Sonar 5 PE and I'm told one of its new features is eliminating the need for the VST wrapper. Supposedly it will just find all the DX and VST instruments and allow them to work directly in the host.
It will be interesting to see how this affects the function of Jamstix. Should mean no more need for DirectiXer ... shouldn't it? |

We haven't gotten our Sonar 5 copy, yet. Once it is here, we will check out compatibility with JS. If it has MIDI output support then it may reduce or eliminate the need for DirectiXer. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
As far as I can tell from the Sonar forum, they have still not implemented midi out in Sonar 5.
They say that it will be implemented maybe in an update patch or similar.

So how do you use directXiser instead of the built in wrapper that is in Sonar 5? Do you somehow disable the built in VST? |

No, they work independent of each other. Just wrap Jamstix in DirectiXer and it will become available in the Sonar synth menu as its own item (in addition to the item in the VST submenu). _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph,, I have Sonar 5 Producer Edition. Do I really need DirectiXer since Jamstix already loads? Do you feel that DirectiXer is better than the wrapper included in Sonar 5 PE? _________________ Pentium Dual Core 3.2GHz

You only need to use DX with Sonar 5 if you need to record or route the MIDI output of Jamstix since Sonar 5 still does not support VSTi MIDI outputs. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
