Hi
Been watching Jamstix for a few months now, and couldn't resist the special offer when I logged on again yesterday. I know it's a great program and well supported (and I have the latest Sound on Sound - but I promise not to try and scan it in here
Anyway - I want to use it mainly as a drum machine using preset sounds/arrangements rather than live playing, certainly to begin with as I don't play keyboards well. I have Sonar 4 and Project 5 v2 (which I used with the demo).
It's been a while since I used the demo and for some reason, I'm not getting any sound coming out from Jamstix.
It seems to play fine - just no sound.
Now - when I installed I wanted Jamstix to install in my VST plugin folder in P5. It defaulted to the VST folder in my Steinberg folder (which I thought had been deleted after I uninstalled a version of Cubase). I did change the install folder but only the "addon" folder and the Jamstx dll went to P5. The rest did go to the Steinberg folder.
Could that be the issue and if so - what's the best way to delete and reinstall? There doesn't seem to be an uninstall option under Programs.
I am going through the manual and I will try in Sonar, but of course I'm one of those impatient blokes!
I also purchased Drum Pak 1 - It seems to have gone to my addon folder but how do I know it's in Jamstix?
Appreciate any ideas..... |

Okay, let's clean house first.
You want to have one and only one Jamstix folder on your machine. That folder needs to contain the subfolders:
accents
addons
arrangements
manual
mappings
rhythms
samples
Please manually copy folders if necessary so they are all in one place.
Make sure the 'samples' folder has *.rzd files in it. If not, make sure you ran the jamstix_data_setup.exe (the 200MB+ file), which installs these. You may have run it but pointed it to another folder. If so, find it and copy the rzd files to the 'good' samples folder.
You should now have sound in Jamstix

It's in the Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs. Look under Rayzoon.

If the DrumPak #1.rxp file (not the ZIP!) is in your addons folder then Jamstix will detect it and tell you that it wants to install it. After the install you will see 'DrumPak #1...' mappings in the load mapping dialog. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks pal
Just moved stuff across to the Jamstix folder. I do end up with 2 samples folders (one may the the Drum Pak) and I have 2 Manual folders.
I may do a complete uninstall/reinstall but I'm getting sounds now.
And the program is superb! |

Glad you like it!
Just throw the contents of the second 'samples' folder into the right one.
If 'DrumPak #1' mappings load and play then you're set up right. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
