I've just discovered Jamstix (an hour ago!!!) and I think this is what I've been looking for for years and years and years! I've always had A LOT of trouble creating realistic drumparts in Sonar... I use Musiclab's software (Fill In drummer and so on), but even that gives me troubles enough... I just can't get them REAL enough and even simple drumtracks just take too much time. It even takes so much time I've stopped making music for a while, since it looked toomuch like work... I always would have liked to play with real musicians, specially drummers because druntrack are so hard to program. Well, seems I found the answer!
First thing I'm interested in is this: is it possible to create a audio or midi track specially to trigger Jamstix without having to have that track audible in the song? This way I could play harder or quieter just to let Jamstix do the things I want it to do, while the actual adible music goes it's own way.
I heard for instance in the demo's that Jamstix lags a bit behind the music, going louder when the music is already louder and so on. I could get rid of that lag by playing louder on the special Jamstix-track while the original music isn't louder yet. (Hope someone still knows what I'm talking about... )
All in all (even though I haven't tried the demo yet1) I think I just HAVE to by this program... To tell you the truth: I don't even have a drum module and the included drumsounds are a reason on its own to get Jamstix... They sound alright to me! (Don't have the money for DFH or BFD: but Jamstix really fits into my budget!) |

In Sonar or whatever software you use, you can automate the velocity curve. That is what makes Jamstix react to the music. That curve can be edited afterwards, and thus the drums fit better to your song.
Hope that helps! |

Ah! That's even easier! So I can actually simply DRAW the curve and edit it to my liking while listening to what Jamstix makes of it!
In the meantime I listened to the demo's of the extra Drumpacks, and BOY do they souns great! And I just can't believe the PRICE! It's ridicilously low, if you ask me! Not that I mind of course...
I was already considering getting DFH or BFD but they are too expensive and (very important) they would not really help me on getting realistic drumtracks more easily. Well, I'm glad I've found Jamstix!
I read the reviews on KVR and the first (oldest) one gave me that 'yes, I know what you mean' feeling, as the writer said he was almost afraid to turn on his computer to make music with it... He is cured now! |

Yes! Quite easy!

You won't regret! The "25% off"-offer is one very striking argument, too! But I would pay much more for Jamstix, just because of it's quality. It gets even better. The latest Updates made it more stable and faster for me (using Cubase SX). |
