I am trying to do a cover of Telstar, and I want to have (I believe) triplets on the snare, something like the surf song Wipeout.
Any ideas? |

I listened to a (bad) audio sample of 'Wipeout' and it's not triplets. Here's what I could hear:

Copy into your rhythm folder and then load 'Wipeout'.

I guess I am showing my age.
You are right! Its not triplets! It is basically 16th notes. If I put the entire matrix of snare notes on, it sounds about right.
I wish I was smarter about drum timing.
I used Wipeout because it is so notorious and well known, at least in my age group(54). Its by the Surfaris.
It starts out with somebody kicking a reverb tank, then a silly falsetto voice that giggles "wipeout", and the tune goes into the basic surf beat that you sent me(thank you). Somewhere around 160 bpm.
But then it does a series of drum solos that are 16th notes played at a drum roll rate. The combination of dexderity and garage band playing made it a surf evergreen. Almost every drummer I know will refuse the challenge because it is so difficult and so camp. But you can't play a private party in Huntington Beach without getting a request from some loud guy in a Hawiaiian shirt.
The Toy Dolls covered it a breakneck speed, and played the solo on the toms. Actually, sometimes the Surfari drummer sometimes used toms also.

I guess "reverb tank" also dates me.

I got you now.
Specialized solos like that you may as well just hand-edit in your host.
