| I found that JS works well in energyXT vsti for the problem I was having concerning driving JS with a pre-recorded .wav file without having to use a multitracker/sequencer. Very simple to set up and effective and doesn't seem to need the audioM8 plugin. I load energyXt vsti into Chainer or MiniHost, then load ZAMP (although I wish I could find a simple .wav vst file player that did nothing but play the file) and JS into energyXT, load the .wav file into ZAMP and go for it. Works great so far. |

Max,
Actually, with the latest build/s of JS, I've found I don't really need EnergyXT any longer in Chainer, just Zamp (www.lesproductionszvon.com/Software.htm) loaded with the .wav file I want to use, audioM8, and JS in that order in the Chainer channel. Or, set up like your previous recommendation to me if I want just the drums to be recorded by Chainer. Once again, thanks big-time for that tip! It works great as a work-around until JS is updated to include "record drums to .wav", or whatever! |

Zauni plz read the edited version below... a little problem has poped up.
***********************
ah ha ZAMP is from ZVON just didn't know about it, so many thanks Panther...
also this dicussion has led me into some curiously odd 'mad experiments' in energy XT... which is great app, but not often the first place I go...

| Quote: | | I have learned that XT [standalone] with JS inside offers a nice feature that lets me use the 4 diff outs of JS as a nice internal mixer [which is something I wanted]... |
[Actually, the above seems to be not correct and must have been from my own mistaken remembering of exactly what I did... in XT standalone I don't get JS to work properly... the arrangment never seems to start or advance in either free jam or manual jam modes... wierd, because IF XT is first loaded into Chainer... and then JS and GA into that XT, all the stuff I say about 'crazy' experiments works fine. There must be a little problem with either JS [using the newest beta -5] or with XT Standalone!]
this can't happen in Chainer standalone, cuz chainer used that way only has one audio out. Now XT really sum's up the 4 JS outs to it's own stereo out, but at least they are usable... nice!
just for those that are really crazy and like to listen to their computers playing with themselves... I had some fun taking both midi and audio outputs from groove agent and feeding them into JS [just JS internal sounds to keep it simple for now] then in GA one can program those memory buttons with various setups and just puch around on them.... if you have GA set to auto fill and random and some humanize it can get pretty strange... LOL
I actually went a little further and took the XT midi chan splitter, with a midi out [you can take one out of JS or GA, your call] and then you can set the 8 midi outs in that splitter to various traspositions and feed that into another synth... I had it running into a few... some bass syth's are kewl if you give them a few transpositions upward to deal with... one could get more detailed in the splitter and limit the note zones for each transposition... anyway you get the drift I bet...
I do have a question or two about JS loops but I'll find a better thread for asking that. |

Hi again,
I've gone with EXT as a host sequencer - took some working out but I got audio flowing and jamstix jamming after a bit of headscratching, sporadic cursing, and hyperventilating into a paper bag once or twice.
I was only 15 minutes into my dub bass odyssey, however, when the whole thing, EXT, plugins and all, just vanished right off the screen. No lockups, no audio corruption, no error messages, just vanished instantaneously without so much as a crackle.
I'm using an updated jamstix demo DLL which I downloaded using a link supplied on this forum - it was another thread about problems with EXT.
I'm posting here first in case it's a known jamstix issue - if not I'll refer to the EXT forum on KVR Audio.
Any help gratefully received - if I can get the demo version bedded in properly on my system then I'll be shelling out for the full version!
Cheers,
NP
EDIT: Further problem as has been reported previously - unless I have the GUI window open in EXT, I get no drums. |

As I said in the other thread, try the X4-16 beta and let us know how it works. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thanks Ralph - will try it out in EXT and report back in.
In the end I plumped for Tracktion 2.0 as my priamry sequencer/VST host, because it simply works the way I think!

| Just to mention that the new extra outputs in JS 1.32 and the new betas seem to me to work just fine inside XT... and in XT you can create a 'mixer' or rather a volume slider for each or any of the outs above JS's native four... this gives you whatever control you may wish... same is true for compression of course. When done the whole setup in XT can be saved and recalled of course... not too shabby really if you want to have control of mixing all those outs. |

It reads: Access violation at address 1B370000 Read of address 1B370000
This occurance happens when I open a project. I works fine while doing the project, but then at a later date when I try and open it again I get this access violation. I seem to remember opening up JS but then trying to get it to respond to audio input gave me the error. I would keep hitting "ok" but the popup box would reappear.
The only lead I have is the fact that I have kept switching through betas during these projects.
Thanks for any help. |

Could you send us the 'rzdlog.txt' from your Jamstix directory to support @ rayzoon.com?
Thanks! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Am I right in guessing the rzdlog only reports what happened on the last session? Because I just made another project over it now. When it happens again I will be sure to email over the log. |
