|
|
Hi!
I enjoy jamming with Jamstix very much so far and it´s really inspiring.
But every time when I try to load DFHS from Jamstix my Cubase SX 3.01 crashes.
It seems a bit better when I already have DFHS open.
Any ideas?
2nd question: Is there already a drum map of Jamstix available? Is it simply GM?

I elaborate a bit more on this, since it´s still not working properly.
1. I´m using Cubase SX 3.01
2. Jamstix is open, working fine.
3. Trying to open DFHS via the "Load" button in the Mapping tab crashes Cubase every time. I get an "Access violation in Jamstix.dll" and have to close cubase via Windows task manager.
4. Opening DFHS via the "External VSTI/Select Drum module" buttons in the Mapping tab gets me to the DFHS opening window.
Now when I click on "presets" >> Cubase crashes again.
Now when I continue in the DFHS configuration window instead, I get to the DFHS construction window like I should and can load a kit. So this IS actually working.
BUT: When again I try to load any .rdm file in Jamstix >> Cubase will crash again every time. As a consequence I can´t make any use of the .rdm files that come with Jamstix.
Apart from that Jamstix is an awesome app. and working great. I´d be glad though if this could be sorted out soon.
Greetings from Hamburg!  |

| Probably not what you want to hear, but it sounds like it's a host or configuration issue. Of course Ralph could probably say more. But this is working fine for me in Samplitude Pro 8.1, Fruity 5.02, Tracktion Free and Acid Pro 4.0f. Hope you can get it straightened out whatever the issue is though, JS & DFHS is an awesome combo. |

Doc,
it sounds as if your Cubase doesn't like the directory selection dialog that Jamstix tries to display when it cannot find the DFHS DLL.
Try this:
1) Look at your jamstix.ini file and see if you have a [VSTi] section in there. If not, just create one.
2) Enter this line in the [VSTi] section:
drummer.dll=M:\Superior\Drummer\drummers.dll
But change the path to reflect the location of your drummer.dll
Save and restart Jamstix. Now see if the DFHS mapping files open without crashes.
Let me know! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Sorry if I´m a bit thick today.
Well, my original ini file looks like this:
[VSTi]
drummer.dll=C:\Programme\Steinberg\VSTPlugIns\jamstix demo\mappings\DFH Superior FF 800MB.rdm
I changed it to:
[VSTi]
drummer.dll=C:\Programme\Steinberg\VSTPlugIns\DFHS\drummer.dll
(which is the location of my DFHS drummer.dll)
Is that what you meant?
Anyhow, now it seems to work. I can load the .rdm from Jamstix and configure DFHS from within Jamstix without Cubase crashing, too.
Thanks a lot for your help. |

I see the problem now: In the past you were prompted for the drummer.dll but you selected the Jamstix mapping file instead. This caused the subsequent crashes because Jamstix tried to load the rdm file as the DFHS DLL.
We'll have to put some protective code in place. Thanks for the catch! _________________ Ralph Zeuner
