I tried the demo and it seems very close to what I need. I am going to record my band by building up tracks, starting with the drums as a click. I will eventually replace the Jamtrax track with a human drummer. I want to arrange the song manually.

My problem is that the demo keeps disabling before I can finish evaluating:

1. Can the volume of the individual internal sounds be adjusted? The hi hat is too quite and the kick too loud for my taste. I tried the mapping page but could not try it before the demo disabled.

2. Is there a way to preview a rythm before loading it into the arranger? For instance, what do you do if you have the arrangement all figured out except a few bars in the center of the tune? Do you just loop this area in the host?

3. What is the deal with DirectXizer in Sonar? What will I miss if I just use the Sonar VST wrapper (which is now built in to Sonar 5)

Thanks for the help. I have been looking for a reasonable way to do drums since forever

Not sure about DirectXer as I don't use it or Sonar so I'll leave that for someone else to answer...

But as far as Q's 1 and 2 go...

The volume of each drum can be adjusted in the Mapping tab.
Select the drum from the drop down list and then set the volume with the slider.

In the load rhythm window you can preview it by clicking on the treble clef and making it light up.
You may need to put yor host into "Live" mode or similar so that you enable real time processing of VSTi's

HTH,
Rich

It shouldn't do that. Did you rename the DLL?
You can also try the latest beta demo DLL from http://rayzoon.com/v-web/bulletin/bb/viewtopic.php?t=669

Yes, you can adjust volume, ambience, pitch, pan, sustain (damping), and audio output for each individual sound.

Click the note icon in the load rhythm dialog. After that any rhythm you click on will be previewed.

The Cakewalk VST wrapper does not have MIDI-Out so you cannot record the MIDI output of Jamstix in Sonar nor can you route it to another VSTi in Sonar. If you do not need those capabilities then you do not need DirectiXer.
