I've just got JSv1.32 and the drumpak#1 and am running it as a virtual instrument under Cubase SL 2.2 WITH the MI4 setup...all is good and I do a manual jam and record that to a MIDI track, make a few edits to get what I want.
I then route midi trkback out to jamstix and click the 'mute brain' button so it will just play the samples to my midi track and no sound! unclick and it starts jamming again to the midi input.
I really like this gizmo but I wanna dial its ideas in to my edits...any ideas whats wrong?

When you playback the track with 'Mute Brain' on, does the little yellow LED in the right-bottom corner light up?

While I'm busy trying to get my foot out of my mouth let me ask another question, sort of related...I'm fairly new with virtual instruments...how do most of you render the midi track to audio? In cubase SL the jamstix outputs just show up at the audio output (via a VSTi track in the mixer). I use the MI4 breakout box, so I loop out of the box and thru an 8 channel mixer and back into the MI4 inputs and record it to an audio track...is there an easier way in SL...Ive scoured the manuals thoroughly but have missed it so far?

Does that version of Cubase have the VSTi freeze function? What I did in Cubase SX was to freeze Jamstix, which gave me a reliable audio track for each output. Problem is, these frozen audio tracks are only usable in Cubase. I then solo'd each output track in turn and exported to audio. That gave me a full track length audio file of each output from Jamstix which I was then free to use any way I'd like.

that did the trick...big help...thank you. I am an 'old' cubase 3.7 guy and labored miserably for years on midi drum tracks (and they still sounded canned)...the freeze function was new for me but sort of the old export/import trick I used to use to free up if I was using lots of plugs...thanx again for the short cut. There are lots of project studios around me but most are 'audio' guys and shuffle thier feet nervously if you start asking questions about midi.
Igotta say again that this product is just great for keeping things 'live' and the groove dynamic...I'm also amazed at how fast I can dial in a groove to write with...now, if it only had a button to make it drive to the beer store I would never have to talk to a live drummer again!
