Ralph
Let me first say... I have been using the demo for 8 days now... and today I downloaded the latest beta version... wow! you've made some HUGE and fantastic progress in the last week.... Jamstix is getting better and better! I will be placing my order in the next few days.
Some of the issues that I mentioned on the forum relating to importing midi files and general use of rhythms have now been rectified. I think that is really amazing.
I have a further question (or a request).
When you go from the arrange window to the rythym window it would be AMAZING (and would make the 'flow' of Jamstix even better) if you had and option (like a preferences default) that would automatically turn off the 'use arrange' button....
So... if you wanted to edit the ryhtyhm of beat 3 (for example) you would (as you can do now) click on 'beat 3' on the arrange list and when jamstix takes you to the rythm page it would flip to 'Rythym' mode so that you can edit just the rythym that you have selected and that is all that would be playing (not the rest of teh arrangement)... this would be more natural... because typically when you want to go and edit one particular rythym you do only want to hear THAT rythym.
Or you could have a key-command to 'toggle it' but this creates other issues doesn't it? like which window.. cubse or Jamstix gets the command.
I gotta say Ralph... the reason I am so 'taken' with Jamstix is that I can be a guitarist (one who LOVES drums) and I can play and compose and it does flow really well... I used to have an Alesis HR16 and usually I find that ALL harware devices are easier to use than ANY software devices... but Jamstix is very 'transparent'... it is easier to write and arrage on than a hardware drum machine... and THAT is saying something!!
I can forget I'm using a computer and just get into the music (for the first time in about 8 years!!)
I think if you got this flow between the arrange and Rythym pages happening, then for me... jamstix would be getting near perfect.
At least a place where you could have a choice to set it up how it is now... or how I am suggesting it to be.
Sincerely
Paspallum |

Thank you for your very kind words, Paspallum!
Jamstix will never be perfect but thanks to the input of people like you we will continuously improve it and extend it and dangerously flirt with 'featuritis'
I can see the need for the function you are describing. We are working on keyboard shortcuts but there are issues with keys being intercepted by various hosts so it isn't an easy road.
We'll see what we can do! _________________ Ralph Zeuner

What about a button to switch 'modes' off from how it is now.. to how I described.... so that every time you clicked on a beat in the arrange window it would only cycle that one rythym in the rythym page?
That would be the best.
Actually my idea of a key command sucks.

Beta X6-6 adds a lock icon to the rhythm tab that implements this functionality. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Turning the 'use arrangement' switch off allows you to choose a beat and keep it in the rhythmn section? |

No, it's not the 'Use Arrangement' button, it's the lock icon in the rhythm tab, right bottom corner. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
