I don't know what I changed, but when I try to add Jamstix to a track in Reaper now, it isn't there. I click FX and then Rayzoon and the window is empty. I tried regenerating the plugins in Reaper but it still isn't there. What can I try?

Thanks,
Vicki

Hi Vicki,
The first thing I'd recommend would be to open the reaper-vstplugins64.ini file in your Reaper install folder with a text editor (Notepad etc...) and delete any lines containing jamstix4.dll. Then in Reaper, add a track and try re-scanning your plugins. HTH

That file has no reference at all to Jamstix. Is there a way to add Jamstix into Reaper by hand? I know I've done that with other locations but not specific plugins. And I wouldn't know how to type it.

Hi Vicki,
I don't know of any way to manually add a plugin to that file, I've never heard of anyone doing that or even have any idea how Reaper comes up with the entry. Have you tried doing a portable install of Reaper to see if the portable install can scan and see Jamstix? It won't affect your normal installation but will show if it is the problem.

Once you have tried Azimuth’s portable install suggestion, if it is still not showing up then a portable install of an older version of Reaper would be worth trying.
Those Reaper developers are great but they do impose a very strict interpretation of vst protocols and they may have added something new recently.

This may take a while. I've never done a portable install, so I'll need to look up what to do. I'll be back when I've figured it out--either to report success or looking for more help.

Thanks!
Vicki

Hi Vicki,

When you run the Reaper installer in the window that lets you choose what folder you want to install Reaper in, below where you type in the folder path there is a check box to do a portable installation. Just make sure you choose a different folder than where your existing install is located.
