Thanks for posting this KS. I hope that it can prove to be a reliable solution for Mac users. |

I just installed Audiogridder 1.2 on my PC and then installed the pluigin on my M1 Mac. Got Jamstix to open up and play a midi file. Seemed in time with the other material in the Reaper project I tried it in.

Thanks for the Audiogridder update. Have you had any success using the multi out or does only stereo out work? |

I'm on PC and Ralph has posted some precautions regarding Mac versions. If you're a licensed user, I think you can select the option to install the latest beta version from Jamstix Manager. Might be safest in any case to email "sales@jamstix.com". As far as I know the betas were never public and were restricted to registered users via the Manager App (at least it's that way on PC) |

I wouldn’t bother if I were you. It hasn’t been updated in years and is almost unusable with the number of significant issues it has.
My assumption based on Ralph’s lack of comment on the Mac version for over 3 years is that it’s a dead project. |

From the Rayzoon web site:
The macOS version of Jamstix 4 is still in Beta.
Please DO NOT purchase a license at this time if you are using macOS.
Contact us at sales @ rayzoon.com with any questions or issues.
Don't bother it's useless. While I agree Jamstix is the best drummer plugin available, the current version does not support MacOS beyond Mojave. Some people have managed to get it running on Catalina but it's not supported.
You could try emailing Rayzoon sales or support but I doubt they'll give you any new information on it. |

If you get it, please post your results here. Ralph hasn't bee on this Mac forum since April 2021 so it seems unlikely there will be any updates in the near future.

Just wanted to report that I've had some success getting jamstix working on my MacBook M3 air. Basically I used freely available VMWare fusion, installed the ARM version of win11 into a VM. Installed audiogridder and jamstix into that....and guess what, it works!
Some weird little things to deal with, but it basically works. I have tested it in several Mac DAW's on MacOS sequoia... I originally wanted to use VSL VePro rather then audiogridder because VePro is generally more reliable and Audiogridder hasn't seen an update in several years, who knows what will happen with it. Unfortunately VSL does not support running their software on Windows ARM....so can't use that. But audiogridder and jamstix appear to work perfectly well in this...and I'm shocked by how well the ARM version of win11 runs on my MBair...
So anyway just wanted to report that. I intend to work this way with my Mac to access jamstix...it lives on! |

Hey Dewdman,
Glad to hear that you've found a "working" solution for yourself and are kind enough to share it. It's a damned shame that that's where things stand. |

Yea well it sorta works. Audiogridder is a bit buggy. Once I have a secondary PC setup I am going to install it there and run VSL Ensemble Pro instead of audiogridder. Audiogridder is super cool and its super free. But...it's got some things that could e improved, it disconnects easily and doesn't handle latency properly for midi output... among other things. But it does provide the GUI to you, from remote system, so that is cool, but the other problems, I dunno, still experimenting with it. I will say when its working it works very well and jamstix actually has never quite been better then this in terms of the the GUI completely working on a Mac. it all just works. well I will definitely continue trying to use it this way because jamstix is simply irreplaceable by anything else.
I don't know whatever happened to Ralph. Hope he's ok. Glad we can still run it in some fashion and basically still working and his site is still up to provide downloads, I guess they are even still selling it...so that's cool... Personally I doubt it will ever run natively on the Mac unless Ralph were to completely recode it in a different programming environment. Times have changed a lot since Jamstix first came out and I feel he could convert to JUCE or something like that and then it would run everywhere. Who knows maybe he's doing that now, but I doubt it, we would have heard from him. The day jamstix stops working even on PC will be a sad day indeed, but at least for now it does seem to work on windows...in my case its even on ARM windows..which I was shocked that it worked, but it does seem to work, and as noted, I can use VMware Fusion and basically run it on my MacBook Air inside the VM and it sends all the sounds back to LogicPro or cubase. Near as I can tell the audio from jamstix has latency compensation happening properly...but audiogridder is not properly compensating the midi output...so...For audiogridder that would mean having to setup a "chain" if that's possible and hosting also any other drum samplers I might use with it, within the windows VM also. so that audiogridder returns only audio, with latency correction. or can use some temporary manual latency correction that is close enough, and then save the midi files from jamstix and bring them back to the Mac side in the DAW. Work arounds galore...but at least it kind of works and I can get some work done this way. And frankly I think it's extremely unlikely at this point we are going to see any new jamtix and especially nothing new on the Mac. Sadly. |

Playing around some more trying to find ways to run jamstix on this M4 MBAir.. I am trialing Crossover product, (based on wine). Years ago I was able to run older version of Jamstix this way...and it worked, and these days with audiogridder available, could be potentially a workable solution.
Unfortunately the jamstix manager has GUI display problems under crossover wine.. whenI attempt to enter my download access code, it doesn't display any of the buttons anymore and can't actually start it. I happen to have a previously saved archive of jamstix4, intended for "offline" install, but same problem you have to use jamstix manger and the GUI comes up initially then hides all the buttons and can't use it.
Anyone know if its at all possible to install on a PC or windows VM and then manually copy files over from that filesystem to this filestytem and maybe work or some other totally manual install approach to avoid having to rely in jamstix manager? |

| As far as I know everything needed for Jamstix to run on Windows is contained in the C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4 folder and nothing is entered into the Registry during installation. I don't know anything regarding Mac or Crossover but I would think if you could copy over that folder and get Crossover to understand what to do with it, I think it might have a chance of working. Definitely worth a try. |
