…Yeah I've been using 4.5.0 Beta 1 since it came out and it is the best release overall in my opinion. It has been very solid on my system.

Very nice. I will continue with it.

As a side note, if you follow the instructions above for an offline install package, if you UNCHECK "Install Beta Versions When Available" it will download version 4.4.6 (the last non-beta release) if you want offline installs for both versions. |
That is a good idea, too, thanks.
I visit this forum on a daily basis with the hope there are news about development. Among the hopes was some info from user austinhaynesmusic_ about a possible vst3 development for this year

after a communication with Ralph. I can only dream what would be possible to do with JS today. It is almost end 2024 and no other software -that I know, at least- has the special characteristics of JS. |

4.5.0 Beta 1 has new features that I use all of the time. I don't think I could go back to 4.4.6 at this point anymore. I agree 110% with you that there is nothing comparable to Jamstix, even today, that I've run across.
Jamstix 4.5.0 Beta 1 (PC) is now available with these changes:
BAR EDITOR: copy/paste bars now supports using more than one bar
BAR EDITOR: copy/paste bars now supports shortcuts Shift+C and Shift+V
BAR EDITOR: holding CTRL while clicking the bar editor lock icon will extend the action to all bars of the part
PART MENU: added options to lock/unlock all events
SONG MENU: added global actions to lock/unlock all events in all parts
BRAIN: the brain 'Add' menu is now filtered by active brain aspect (groove or accent)
BRAIN: added 'Double Bass Logic' to brain 'Add' menu
BRAIN: right-clicking on brain background now shows the brain 'Add' menu
BRAIN: added menu icon to brain elements to access effector menu via left-click instead of right-click on element name
LIVELOOPS: added MIDI trigger option 'Liveloop Continuous Recompose' to toggle constant part recomposition in liveloop mode
LIVELOOPS: added display of liveloop options 'Auto-Advance' and 'Always Recompose' to big time window
TIMELINE: bars with accents now have their bar number underlined in the timeline
REVISIONS: loading revisions now uses a file dialog so revisions from any previous project can be loaded
REVISIONS: revision files are now named as song name + timestamp for easier recognition
MIDI: auditing the kit in the bar editor or 3D kit with a 3rd party plugin now works properly if the MIDI channel is greater than 1
GUI: sliders now support mouse wheel actions
GUI: added option 'Status Line Hint Persistence' to set delay until status bar hint is cleared
3D KIT: fixed lights not being recalled correctly on song load |

Back when I was using Win 7 as my OS with Reaper I also had to use APS mode forever until Ralph finally solved that riddle. Even he wasn't 100% sure what had actually been causing the issue but assumed that an updated compiler he started using must have solved it somehow. Never had an issue since I switched to Win 10. |
Hi Azimuth - I'm on Windows 11 for over a year now, after a few years of Windows 10. I think some of this is Art more than science - and definitely has a lot to do with the host and how it interacts with the plug-in. Prior to Studio One v7 I had to have APS enabled in order to have any ability at all to pass mouse or keyboard data to Jamstix. Otherwise it would load and play fine, but with no interaction. With v7, I had to disable APS to have the same capability. It might be some strange combination of factors that might be different in someone else's DAW, I don't know. Just happy it works! |

hmm, well I removed Jamstix completely from my computer and ran offline installer again, which built up ~2GB worth of files inside cache and offline folders... I then Tried to actually use that to install jamstix to my machine and it simply did not. So...must be doing something wrong, or else it can't be used this way. Also it generally will not install anything without being about to connect with our code...which presumably in the future would be the case also even if we have pre-downloaded some files this way...so seems kind of a moot point to do this... well anyway I can't seem to get anything to install with or without connecting after having create the so called offline package...
I will try the directions again tomorrow again to see if fresh perspective works better, but at the moment I am feeling the best way to archive this software for just in case is going to be to identify all the folders where Jamstic puts stuff and copy them as-installed. Unless there is any registry hackery..in which case that won't work either...
but anyway, I'm totally mystified as to how this offline mode was supposed to work at all ever...doesn't install jamstix for me at all or its not obvious how and when you use the offline package to install it. |

Hi Dewdman,
I know this process does work because I have actually done it myself. Doing an offline install does not require your customer ID, that is only required to download the program to back it up. So that "future proofs" access to the program as long as Windows keeps supporting it |

| Dewdman, I'll gladly answer any questions you've got about the process. Where is the process failing? |

| nothing worked remotely as you described. perhaps you can give provide more explicit and detailed step by step instructions. The previous steps I followed did not work to install Jamstix on my computer. |

| Can you be a bit more specific how "nothing worked". Where did things fail? During the download, the installation? |

I did all the steps you said. I could not find any way to tell the jamstix manger to install ANYTHING without connecting...even after I already did the offline mode and allegedly created everything I need for an offline install. there was no button I could find to "install it now"...and indeed...it was not ever installed. And I still don't know how to actually install it other then connecting the normal way in non offline mode and installing it.
Nothing was installed properly at any time following9 the steps you gave. Yes it downloaded some stuff and placed in the cache and offline folders...that is not installed...that is supposedly pre-downloaded. but how to actually install it? I can see no way to tell it to install it now. |

| Did you kill your internet connection? You need to as if you were installing it on the offline computer. |

| That is a required step to kill the internet connection? If you mentioned it in your task list, I missed that step...but I will try it. |

| so presumably....in the future...if rayzoon goes off line,...then we would not have to kill our internet connection yea? Anyway I will try to run it but its hard for me to actually kill internet connection right now because I am working remotely at the moment on this pc. |

| Yes you do have to kill your Internet connection. My mistake, I assumed that would be clear since it was supposed to be an Offline Install. I'll edit the steps I posted. |

ok, managed to get it installed. This time when I run the installer it has an install button available. however when I hit the install button it gives me a message that its already installed, even though its not. Not sure why it would determine that, maybe because of the content left in ProgramData that you said to put there?
Anyway the good news is that I then used the "repair" button in the top right, but proceed to extra and install everything and appears to have installed that way everything... !!
Not sure why repair step was necessary, its fine if it is, but would be good to identify how avoid that..
