I am going to download all the Jamstix installers and save here on my backup just in case Rayzoon website ever goes away. Does anyone know where Jamstix Manager downloads all relevant files or is Jamstix manager the only way to install Jamstix?

Hello. Good question. I am not at my studio pc, so I can’t answer at the moment. Years ago it was a pain, a real pain, to install JS and all packs, and so, when the manager was introduced I was so relieved that I didn’t want to know where all the install files went.

That what you are now saying, is it because you have a new information about the site and JS? I know many (or all) of us experiment since a couple of years some abandonment feeling, but I am asking if you know something new.

no there is nothing I know about I'm just being proactively paranoid.

I guess if the time comes that JamstixManager stops having access to the content we can regroup and figure out which folders to zip up for safe keeping.

You could create an offline install package and save it for a rainy day. That should contain all of the files to reinstall.

yea so it was not as straight forward as I thought. I'm not really sure what the offline thing does. It builds up Jamstix 4 Data folder with an offline folder and a cache folder. The plugins aren't there. The programData stuff isn't there. So it really seems to be just the sounds..perhaps compressed in some format that takes less space in the offline dir. When I tried to run it again later to "install" I wasn't really sure if it did the right thing or not...

well anyway in the end I installed Jamstix the normal way, then copied the plugins and the ProgramData/Jamstix4 folder into Jamstix 4 Data, along with the Jamstix manager and a read me and zipped it all up. Hopefully its all there. Its just for a rainy day that Rayzoon site somehow goes off line in the future...

Yes, there's a few things you need to do to get the full install package. You basically have to hide your existing Jamstix installation then it will package it all for offline use.

Here's the steps if you want them:

1) Rename \ProgramData\Jamstix4 (I use A_Jamstix4 so it's at the top of the file list in File Explorer)

2) Run Jamstix Manager. Click "Connect".

3) Install Options Button>Jamstix Data Folder>Choose Folder or type folder's name where you want the offline package saved.

4) Check "Create Install Package for an Offline Computer".

5) Check "Install Beta Versions When Available".

6) Click OK. Window will close.

7) After a bit the "Start Packaging" button will highlight.

8 ) Click "Start Packaging" and agree to the conditions, the offline install will start downloading. It might take a while depending on your net speed. The various modules will indicate "Completed" after they download.

9) In your \ProgramData folder, there will be a new Jamstix4 folder that contains an Installer folder and a jamstix4.ini file.

10) Copy this new \ProgramData\Jamstix4 folder and its contents and add it to the folder where the offline package was saved to. Place a copy of the Jamstix manager app in the folder also.
This folder now contains a complete offline installation package.

11) Rename your renamed \ProgramData\Jamstix4 folder back to its original name so your original installation works again.

Make sure you disconnect from the Internet before doing the install. Thanks to Dewdman42 for debugging these instructions.

This info is gold, thank you, Azimuth (although I wasn't the one who was asking). I think it is a good idea to be a little paranoid, just in case.

By the way, I had never installed the last beta version, but installed it a couple of minutes ago. I assume you are working with it.

Hi Knopf,

Yeah I've been using 4.5.0 Beta 1 since it came out and it is the best release overall in my opinion. It has been very solid on my system.

As a side note, if you follow the instructions above for an offline install package, if you UNCHECK "Install Beta Versions When Available" it will download version 4.4.6 (the last non-beta release) if you want offline installs for both versions.

So great Azimuth. Many thanks for detailing this. I'm going to do this this weekend, "just in case". FWIW I am also using the last beta since it was released and it is great. I just upgraded to v7 of Studio One and Jamstix is behaving better than ever. 👍Hoping it just keeps on doing its thing.
Thanks so much.

FWIW - In the past, I always had to enable "APS" mode in previous versions of Studio One to get the capability to enter any numeric data into Jamstix when it was hosted as a VSTi. For the new version of S1, I had to deselect use "APS" in the troubleshooting section of Jamstix Manager. I honestly never completely understood why I had to use it in the past but tried it (and found it worked), after reading about some issues with Cubase.

Anyway super happy Jamstix still works (great!) here, that it plays nicely with Studio One 7, and that I can hopefully figure out how to preserve the entire installer package using your method posted above. Thanks so much!

Hi Br_ndo,

Back when I was using Win 7 as my OS with Reaper I also had to use APS mode forever until Ralph finally solved that riddle. Even he wasn't 100% sure what had actually been causing the issue but assumed that an updated compiler he started using must have solved it somehow. Never had an issue since I switched to Win 10.
