|
|
I have Jamstix 4 Ultimate with Windows 11 and Reaper host.
My present song is in 3/4 so I am using 'Country Kit' with a 'Country Waltz'.
I would like to use a snare brush kit and followed Azimuth's step-by-step for adding a brushed snare in the following post.
https://rayzoon2.com/forum/posting.php?mode=quote&p=50931
I then right-clicked on the snare, selected "Change sound" and selected the brushed snare which was listed.
The snare now has a brush type sound but is hit with sticks and not a brushed swirl.
I did follow the steps to the letter but I must be missing something here. I'd be grateful for any help with this.
Thanks. |

Hi CM,
I just noticed something about my original step by step. In the Change Sound menu for the Snare, if you have "Filter" checked it only offers 2 Brush samples "Snare Brush - 14" Birch JP" and "Snare Brush Muted - 14" JP". If you uncheck "Filter" you will find a 3rd Brush sample "Snare Brushing -14" Birch JP". This is the "swirling" sample that you want. Sorry about that oversight. |

Hi Azimuth,
Thank you so much, that's great. I now have the swirling brush on the snare.
Is there a similar procedure for a brush tap/hit on the snare as opposed to a brush swirl?
I've had a quick look through menus but could find nothing that stood out as being this effect. Again, probably, I think I'm missing something pretty obvious and would appreciate any further help with this.
Thanks again. |

| I think that would be the Brush muted sample. Part of the problem might be that the "conventional" drummers aren't really going to compose the Snare work like the Brush Player will so you might want to explore that also. |

Hi Azimuth.
I've spent a while trying different things to achieve a snare brush hit instead of a snare brush swirl without success.
So, as you indicate in your last reply, this seems to not be available.
Thanks again for your help with this. |

Hi CM,
Have you tried using the Brush Player to see if that would get more of what you're looking for? That would be where I'd venture next if nothing else seemed to be working. Maybe Brush Player plus extract from other player to dial in what you need? |
