1. Sometimes I like particular bars as I listen in context with the music, but want to change other bars. However, I don't want to stop the song, lock a bar, and start playing the song again over and over. I wish that when I hear a bar, and think "I want to keep that!"...I could click a lock just for that bar, but keep the song playing....and just keep doing that for several passes. When I have to stop, lock, or recompose a bar, I lose all context.
So basically, I'm hoping for a lock/unlock buttons on each bar, that work regardless of what bar is selected or currently playing.
2. I also hope for a "temporary" bar lock. As in, one could "temp lock" a bar, then hit recompose. If I don't like the result, I would like to be able to undo the recompose, OR undo all editing, back to the state that the bar was in before recomposing or manual editing. * Basically, you chose a point you can revert back to easily if experimenting goes awry.
This would save me SO much time, and streamline the workflow.
3. I'm still praying for a good old piano roll. With 1/32 divisions. When Jamstix just doesn't quite do what I imagine in my head, this would be so good to have.
* Given how amazing Jamstix is, these don't seem like they would be hard to implement. And why not add these features? Even EZ drummer finally added a piano roll. It seems easy in comparison to all the other features. I think it would add more appeal to new and existing users alike honestly. I mean, it can't hurt!
** This is all probably a pipe dream. But heck with it. Might as well ask!
I do have to add: MUCH thanks to Ralph for Jamstix AS-IS honestly! |

#1) If you click the "padlock" icon in the Bar Editor at anytime while your song is playing, it will lock the Bar that is playing "on the fly".
#2) When I'm doing any "I wonder what this does" editing, I have made it habit to hit the Bar Editor Save a Restore Point icon (the floppy disk) so I have a very recent undo point to return to if things go off the cliff. It is a very good habit to commit to muscle memory.
#3) Can't help you there. LOL
Hope this helps somewhat. |

Thanks Azimuth,
On #1, The problem is that by the time I've heard a recompose of a bar that I like, it's already over before I can decide. I have to stop the song to lock it.
There's no way around it.
On #2, sometimes Jamstix freezes or crashes the the when I make a restore point. And usually it takes quite a while to create a restore point. And I don't want to have a ton of restore points. Things get cluttered and I lose track of things quickly. I don't want to create restore points for the whole song each time, just one for a single bar.
On #3 - I'll still just keep praying on that one too.
As always, thanks for your input! |
