Hi. I feel I am finally getting to grips with this amazing* software but there's a couple of things I find frustrating:

I frequently use short bars in my arrangements, which I handle with time signature changes in the host. As things stand, JS ignores these and instead uses the internal t/s of the part. But sometimes I don't want the full 8 bars, meaning I have to create extra parts which musically should be linked to the full versions but can't be because of the internal settings.

So I would like to be able to vary the bars and repeats - and transition/repeat fill settings, while I'm thinking about it - with the linkage locking in just the Style, Drummer and Brain settings. It would make programming less-than-straightforward arrangements much less of a headache.

I also don't understand why we can't change Part Types once the part has been created.

Any thoughts, anyone?

*yes, this is shameless creeping but I mean it quite literally!

Hello, you mention you have the time signature in the DAW, but are you specifying it in the part? Take intro account what the manual says about it:

23.1 Changing Time Signatures
If your song uses time signature changes, you need to do the following:
 enable ‘Time Sig Changes’ in the Options screen
 click on every part length and select the proper time signature for each part
If the time signature changes in your host are not aligned with the ones specified for the parts
then you may encounter synch problems.
Ideally, you wouldn’t have to tell Jamstix your time signatures as it can see them via the VST
interface but unfortunately the song position information of VST is not designed to handle time
signature changes and in order to provide a tight synch to the host we require you to set each
part manually.

What I do in that situation if I need an additional few extra bars similar to an existing part is in the existing Song Part, after it's arranged the way I want it, use save groove as style as a User Style. Then load the saved style in the newly created Song Part.

I'm already using it as you suggest, Knopf_, but thanks anyway. I'm a bit confused about what you say about VST and t/s changes - if they're not handle-able(!), why is there an option to track them?

Thanks for the tip, Azimuth

Very Happy

Hello Duncan. That about VST is not my text, that is what the manual says.

The t/s in a part can be set up and it should be the same as in the host at the same position, so that it works. What I understand is that, due to a limitation or characteristic of VST it must be set up on both sides: Jamstix and DAW.
