|

Hi,
I'm setting up a new PC with Cakewalk by BandLab as my DAW. I installed JamStix 4 but it does not show up when Cakewalk scans for plugins. I have verified that ‘jamstix4.dll’ is in the plugin search path. Any tips on how to fix this?

Hi Alan,
I just downloaded and installed Cakewalk to check this out. After letting Cakewalk scan VST folders, Jamstix 3 and Jamstix 4 both are listed in the Uncategorized group and Jamstix 4 appeared to load fine. |

I'm picking this thread back up... I never did get it resolved, it appears, but I haven't had the new DAW situated in a place where it was easy to work on any music projects. About a week ago or so I finally set up a studio space and moved the PC in there, and loaded a project that had used JamStix 3 and Cakewalk couldn't find it. I'd forgotten that I'd already created this thread back in March and sent a Tech Support request. I've been emailing back and forth with Ralph about the problem and he's had me try several things.
To summarize
I tried the Repair option in JamStix Manager.
I verified that the JamStix DLL is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 and made sure that Cakewalk has this folder as a plugin search path. Also triggered a manual rescan.
At Ralph's suggestion, I tried copying the Jamstix DLL from the VST3 folder to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2 folder to see if that solved the problem. It didn't.
At Ralph's suggestion, I tried running Cakewalk via right-click->Run As Admin. That didn't resolve the issue either.
That's where I am at the moment. It's the weekend now so I'm not expecting any further suggestions until Monday. But I'm going to be away for Thanksgiving. So I thought on the off chance that someone on the Forum might see this and have any advice, I thought I'd bring this thread up to date.
Thanks! |

| I just had the bright idea to open JamStix 4 Manager on the old computer and see if I could find anything different about it -- lo and behold in the Installation Options window the 64-bit VST folder was C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins. So I put a copy of the JamStix DLL in there, opened Cakewalk, opened the Cakewalk Plugin Manager and added that path to the list, clicked Scan, and after a couple of minutes there it was -- JamStix 4 in the list of available plugins! |

| Glad that you got it working. I downloaded Cakewalk again this morning and was going to check if placing the .dll file in the Common files folder made a difference since that is an odd path for the file. I guess they changed something in Cakewalk because I couldn't get the program to run, it just hung whenever I tried starting it. Anyway, just glad that you got it figured out. |

| Strange that Cakewalk finds all the other plugins located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 but doesn't pick up JamStix. Well, at least it seems to be working OK. Thanks for your replies. |
