Does Rayzoon even exist anymore? Did they go out of business? Is anyone supporting Jamstix or even paying any attention to it any more?
I tried the product years ago. I thought the product was an interesting concept but I thought it wasn't very useful. I found it confusing and it seemed to need a lot more work.
I recently found an old login to this forum but I can't find a website for the company or it's products. It looks like the product has been abandoned and the company is no longer in business.
Can anyone enlighten me? What's been going on? |

It's super useful and I use it all the time. I'm on Windows (11) but aware that Mac OS users have had difficulties through various iterations of the OS. I believe the Jamstix Store still has a recommendation to not purchase if you are using Apple. I understand Ralph is still around for technical support on an as needed basis and I used him myself many months ago. I've used it for years, have all of the drummer packs and kits and it just works.
I wish there was more clarity on where Jamstix is heading, whether or not there will be updates or future products, etc. But it is what it is, and I am happy I made the investment in Jamstix several versions ago. |

Takes some time to figure some stuff out but it's totally worth it, there's such a lot to it. It's pretty educational too, for learning something about drumming.
As I always say on forums it's absolutely unique (just hope it continues and is succesful for Ralph) |

Agree with this. I learned a lot about drumming as I was learning to use this program. |

Massive ups on this post. Same here, it has taken over a year for me to find the right usage for it.
The patterns get too complicated quickly, so I listen for interesting parts knowing that I will have to edit later. Once you take into account other tracks, you will be doing a lot of editing, just like any drummer, the song evolves.
I'm more comfortable now with using JS as a raw idea generator then doing my own thing with it.
Overall it has taught me a ton about drums.
In general it seems to support older styles which have more complicated drum parts. Modern drumming seems much simpler, but, it's all genre specific. It would not be useful if JS generated too little!
It's an idea machine, but, in my experience, you have to edit! |
