Hi there,
I am an older musician who has very limited experience with DAWs. Apologies in advance if my understanding of Jamstix is incorrect. My set up is a Tascam DP008ex (and tascam 424mkII) which I have used to record songs. In the past, I just used preset drums to record sounds. Not pretty, but for demos its fine..I have FL STudio which I tinkered with, but never have used much.
Questions:
If I export the WAV file from the DP008ex (without preset drums), can jamstix automatically add drums to the correct time and rhythm to file?
If seen a few clips where there is an intro, verse chorus, etc to song. Is this automated in Jamstix, or do I somehow select a section of the wav file to specify this?
Don't get me wrong, I am impressed by DAWs, but unfortunately, I find DAW interfaces overwhelming, when I can quickly and easily adapt to my analogue devices. However, I can see Jamstix as an overwhelmingly positive tool since drums are something I don't play. I hope this is clear. I was looking to replace my boss dr770, I came across Jamstix. I would be willing to learn a DAW if this was simple enough to add drums to a wav file.
Thank you for your time. |

Hi,
Unfortunately it isn't an automatic process to create a drum track to go along with an existing wav file recording. You would have to Tempo map the wav file in the DAW first to enable Jamstix to play along. You would then have to designate your individual song parts within Jamstix. |

| But, on the other side, Jamstix can take (importing) midi grooves and "jamstificize" them, grooving using style and player way of playing. |

Hello Azimuth, Knopf_
Unfortunately, don't have any midi grooves, but I'll make it a project to map the tempos of my songs in a DAW. I have to start somewhere, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions! |

What you could do is use a daw that converts wav to midi files.I use Ableton live, and it does a pretty good job of converting wav to midi for drums or melody, _________________ EMU 1820M user |
