Is there any way to define the general rhythm of a fill and have JamStix come up with specific hits?

I've tried with defining certain ticks as "this is a hit" but it didn't work.

One thing that kind of works is to define the ticks that need to be silent.

Any other suggestions?

The Character controls in the Fill window can change the structure of a fill quite a bit. If you are looking for something specific you will have to manually edit the fill. The fill controls are by far the most unpredictable in Jamstix. Once you get what you want make sure that you lock the bar also.

Thank you, Azimuth. As always helpful.

The fill editor is impressive but seems to have room for improvement.

Fills are crucial. Any old fill won't do. How long do you usually have to wait for it to play a fill even remotely how you need it?

If you're talking to me D_N28 a lot of it depends upon the type of music I'm working on. Usually though I've found choosing an appropriate player model has a huge effect on getting what I'm looking for. I always think of using Jamstix as "the poor man's Steely Dan" where I can use a different Drummer for every single Song Part in a song if I want to. LOL
